Lol, a lot like LPG when it hit the servos eh?

My first car (1983 ZK Ford Fairlane) had an LPG system fitted to it when my Dad purchased it for my Brother and I.

It was great, in 1997 LPG was 24c p/litre while unleaded was 73c p/litre. Only the local Shell servo sold LPG here at the time and it only just took LPG out of their bowsers 2 years ago, no one else here ever sold it but Shell.

I didn't get as many km's out of the tank using LPG, my car had a 60L LPG tank and an 85L petrol tank, but my car went harder on LPG and it still worked out much cheaper than filling the tank with precious guzoline.

Fast forward 10 years or less, a lot of cars had LPG by that time and it was only around 5c p/litre cheaper the dog ****s!

They were onto it quick smart and it was not worth fitting the systems to cars anymore and I ended up removing a lot of LPG systems for customers so they could get their boot space back lol.

I removed the system and tank, but we had to have a certified LPG installer write the gas certificate out for the Transport Department after I completed the job.

Diesel used to be a fraction of the cost of petrol as well...that article is UK; here on the Sunny Coast the commercial mob Evie are charging 60c /kWh so to completely charge a Tesla 3 (82kW battery) is less than $50 for a conservative range of 400km that’s 12.5c per km vs 28c per km (@7l/100km and $2 fuel). Not to mention of course most Tesla owners charge at home where they have PVs. Sure you have to plan ahead, just like the early motorists did. Farriers were replaced by fuel stations and fuel stations are already installing chargers (which will be more profitable for them - much simpler infrastructure and consider what the margin on 60c a kWh might be!

A number of friends now have EVs most being Porkers ,they Didn't buy them for the environment ....but for the performance !

The wealthy areas of Melbourne are now seeing more and more EVS, while the lesser areas few .

Is the EV the car of the elite while the poor will in years to come struggle with there fossil fuel bangers ?

Isn't that what Pless often said when he was around - you don't buy an EV for the environment - you buy it because it a great appliance for getting you from a to b quickly.
I also seem to recall he always said that if you wanted a visceral driving experience, you'd buy an ICE.

I saw Mark had posted it on his site and a couple of the pictures looked a bit like his office but renovated. I hope it goes well. It's nice and handy for us! We'll have to go check it out.
