Could you confirm the size of the OEM springs please? They're supposed to be: Springs outside diameter: 101.5mm large in front and 104.6mm rear Inside diameter: 78.5mm front and 80.6mm rear. Thanks. PS: are the new shocks the same diameter and threads as the oem ones?
^ The old springs are uprated Challenge springs with spring rates of 2200 lb/in F and 900 lb/in R The new shocks are Penske 8300 Series Remote. They're narrower than the Challenge shocks. I'll check on part numbers for the shocks, springs and helpers the next time I go to the shop when they're ready to adjust the seats for me.
Right, Thibaut. It's gotten to a point where the stock Challenge suspension, even with its active damping system, had to be updated. This has been very apparent at Sebring where my car would benefit from a softer suspension. The Penske/Hypercoil/Eibach setup I'm installing has performed well in another F355 Challenge I know of. My car will need to be lowered slightly from its current Challenge ride height. I'll be testing the suspension at Daytona in the spring.
Interesting. As my car was running in GT3 / GT4 championships, they had removed the active damping and using normal shocks. As I mostly road use mine, i have kept the shocks but replaced the springs for fiorano spec and set suspension higher so to be practical. Eventually I am hoping to have more track time so looking for a solution that provides flexibility. Would be interested to have your feedback. 30 year is a long time, I am sure you will be impressed with your new set up.

Your Fiorano setup is ideal for street use. My car is strictly for the track. My new setup will allow me to dial in shock settings, like I said a softer setting for Sebring. It's been like riding a pogo stick down the front straight and into the 90° Turn 1. I'll have more confidence in my car on that circuit in the future and better lap times... I'll let you know how it works out.
