    Big ass pipes going in to divert the water from the wash. This will get covered with dirt and on top we get the garage and driveway.
    I don’t know what the he’ll I got myself into. This project is massive! Lol.

    Thats a huge undertaking...the drainage issue is a biggy and has to be dealt with properly....looking good!

    I’ll grab some pics in the next few days. Honeslty- I know they have been doing a lot but doesn’t seem like it if you look at pics. Upper foundation footings are going in next week which means upper slab. Lower level framing has started. Not much more steel/. Guess that is going to come later. Progress is slow.

    Fun to watch the progress! Be sure there are electrical outlets in the master closet because they are quite handy (ask me how I know…)

    Also, I don’t know the water situation there, but we installed whole house R/O and really like it. No spots on dishes, shower doors etc. AND every sink is drinking water. If we do another house, I might put two systems in and send only softened water to certain places (eg washing machine and toilets) and R/O to the rest. Just make sure the hose bibs on the exterior of the house are not softened (or at least not all of them)…. ;)

    Things are moving. Lower level framing will be done in 10 days. Upper foundation scheduled to be completed in mid February. We had a great meeting with our builder to reconnect on the project after the holidays. They are giving an anticipated move in date of April 4, 2024. So roughly 15 or so months. Very exciting.

    Even more exciting- A local broker presented an offer for the house upon completion that has me saying.....hmmmmmm. Im not selling nor do I have any plans to but the numbers are a bit on the ridiculous end. Enough to have a conversation with the wife.

    I've spent nearly 8 years on planning and modifcations to my house. It's an 250 year old farm house/estate.
    I won't sell it even for a 5 million profit.

    There is something about putting a price on quality of living and thus life.
    Yes you can sell at a large profit, but you also have to find something equally, but probably better.

    Your house/garage looks like a dream set up. If that's the case, money should not matter if you can afford it.

    If the numbers bear out, it’s not 5 million. Regardless, I’m not planning on selling.

    As a family we spend a lot of time in this room.
    My son with his Playstation and me and my wife for movies.
    For the tech geeks, this is a completely seperated and insulated room; it's fully detached and 'floating' from the rest of the house.
    It has it's own power supply, aircon and heating sepertated.
    Fully sound proofed.
    Seats are custom build, fully electric adjustable and add to the sound proofing.
    Next to fully THX and Atmos certified, all speakers are from the B&W Diamond Series.
    Trinov amplifiers and Surround processors.
    You can see from the panels how many I aprox have, ext to the ones around the screen and in the ceiling.
    2 major subs, 2 additional ones in the couch for that extra oomph,
    In short, it's some serious firepower!

    However when watching Top Gun Maverick last weekend, I quickly forgot all the costs involved.... WORTH IT!

    What I meant is if the numbers bear out, it would be well north of 5 million. Much more. But right now it’s all conjecture BS. Who knows it it’s actually real. One thing you did for me was at least give me some confidence that when the house is done after much pain and sacrifice, I have some nice serious equity built in. Like I said- I have no plans to sell.

    Yes, that was my point as well.
    Having the reassurance you have invested smart is great to know.
    But that wasn't why you actually build the hopuse.
    It is to be a place for you and your family.
    And putting a price on "joy of living" is almost impossible.

    All in all, I've nearly doubled my budget for my house.
    But in the end, it was all worth it.
    Seeing how much you care and feel about yours I'm guessing you'll feel the same.

    Building a property is something you can do a lot, but building a house is one of the things you only do a few times in your life.
