And it looks **** https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/ferrari/359518/ferrari-plan-authentic-engine-noise-electric-cars-revealed
I also read that Toyota have developed a simulated manual stick gear box for EVs. It limits the tourque and acceleration depending on the gear selected. Ferrari kind of do this with the turbo V8s already. Therefore we have to prospect of a three pedal, gated, EV Ferrari. Strange times ahead !
This was in a Kevin James movie over 10 years ago, lol. At the end of the day, they'll need to apply the best/most-advanced features that have worked for driving simulators for this to possibly be well received
If they are going 100% electric fine. I get that. Knock it out of the park and do it right. BUT…. Any type of fake engine noise, speakers etc. would be the dumbest move in the history of dumb moves. It’s the aural equivalent of driving a Ferrari badged Fiero replica.
Fake noise? Why not just make an app an put on a headset as well. Fake Ferrari! https://carbuzz.com/news/ferrari-wants-to-develop-its-own-version-of-dodges-fratzonic-ev-exhaust
I don’t like it personally but I’m afraid it’s inevitable at this point. Good thing is it will just be a temporary footnote. Once synthetic fuel is solved (hello Porsche!) and readily available EV will fall back to being a niche solution. 100% EV is mathematically impossible and not even remotely sustainable but that is a different thread.
Well the whole point of Big Tech and Big Gov't seems to be to have the masses medicated, whacking off in VR in their subsidized housing, so that is probably not far off... Huxley was right!
Unfortunately I can see Evo car reviews in the future: The Top 10 Best fake exhaust sounding cars you can buy
And because they cant bite the hand that feeds them, they will rave about how realistic and authentic it is and why its a great thing!
If Ferrari makes an electric car that perfectly synthesizes all the sounds of a 333 SP in real time as you put the car through it’s paces … I would buy one. In fact I would happily pay $50k for that module as an option.
You might as well just get a VR racing sim and do that now. It would be just as “real” as an EV car with speakers and you’ll spend less than 50k.
