Ferrari said nothing. But what did you expect: sports papers want to sell, it happens in any sport. British magazines were always saying "it was David Coulthard year" or now talking about Lando Norris´ championship prospects. So what? Nobody cares.

Sometimes I’m amazed at how many people think strictly and seriously about what is ultimately a forum of pure entertainment.
We are not discussing the future of the world!
Rumours have always been part of the game for tifosis and I remember my excitement when I was waiting for the results of the first test days of the new car in Fiorano between 1996 and 2004.
Some people here must be really boring to live with every day..;)

Also amazing is how, somehow, people think it is Ferrari themselves making these declarations of superiority when in fact they say nothing. And worse, they get criticized for doing just the opposite when they say stuff like “we hope to be competitive and fight for wins”, etc.

Compare this to all the crap coming out of Merc and AM, for example, on how they’ve learned from 2022 and they’ve found loopholes and discovered where they f’d up, how they’re going to be in the hunt—but maybe not at the start of the season—etc., etc.

    Hi Jim
Chill - Its only an opinion based on watching Grand Prix's for 56 years!!

Would MV have done any better in the Ferrari last year? Could have !

Its all theorizing which doesnt mean diddly squat.

We don’t care, Ferrari is Formula One.
Ferrari is there since the Beginning.
Their headquarters are in Maranello since the beginning.
Mercedes is a German brand with its Formula One team in UK..
One day they will leave and Ferrari will be there again and again.

Ferrari is not Formula 1 lol. Its a well known team in Formula1. I want good racing within Formula1. I dont care if the teams are named, A, B or C. Good racing based on the formula agree'd by the teams. A well managed series. Teams are there and leave. We watch. Ferrari leave? I cannot prevent that, and that is something for Ferrari to worry about.

In fact, I will correct you, because Ferrari wasn't in F1 since the Beginning. Did you know that ?
When the WDC was created, Ferrari didn't believe in it and didn't send cars to the first race, the British GP in 1950.
It's only when he saw the coverage Alfa Romeo got in the Italian press that he changed his mind, and joined the championship.
Anyhow, why should a team be privileged because it's still in the same premises? That sounds daft to me.
Ferrari is registered in the Netherlands, and partly owned by Exor with American shareholders. So much for being exceptional. :)

Never heard about multi-nationals? globalisation? Mercedes builds cars in many different countries.
So nothing strange in the fact that its racing branch is located in England. Does that make it less worthy ? Don't think so.
Even "your" Alpine team lives in UK ! ;) So much for the Cocorico ...
You probably also know that most Champagne is not produced in France. :D

William, Ferrari won races before the 1950's that are not included.

You of all people know this.

Of course, I know there were non-championship races from the late 40s, until the 70s, I believe.

But here we are talking about the World Drivers Championship (Formula 1) that started in 1950, aren't we ?

    Officially and technically speaking yes.

Btw, it wasn't just Ferrari that won races that were not counted but it was Alfa too BEFORE the 1950's.

Give them enough time and their stats will be as bad as Ferrari's. Look at McLaren if you don't belive it.

The difference is that some executives at Stuttgart will shut the team down before things get too ugly.

Now you want to lecture me about Ascari Sr, Campari, Borzachini, Nuvolari, Count Trossi, Varzi, Moll, Chiron and else ?
I know all that, and the pre-war Scuderia Ferrari, etc ...
You could add the Silver Arrows, Mercedes and Auto Union, von Brautistch, Caracciola, Rosemeyer, Stuck, HP Mueller, Seaman, Henne,
There were 2 attempts to create a Drivers Championship; one in the late 20s up to 1932, fought between Bugatti and Alfa Romeo.
The second one started in 1935 and was a duel between Mercedes and Auto Union that ended with WWII.
But they are not part of our discussion, are they ?

Judging by some posts, the millenials on this forum don't know that motor racing goes that far back. ;)

Alpine means absolutely nothing to me.
It’s a marketing gimmick nothing more.
You amazed me with your scoop about the Champagne, please reassure me the Eiffel Tower is located in Paris and not in Vegas ?:D
I really hope Ferrari will stay in Maranello producing outrageous combustion engines but I know it won’t last long.
    The last of its kind.
Ps : I bet Mercedes and others main traditional automakers will be hugely impacted by Tesla and Chinese in the coming decade.

Or anything after Senna LOL :)

F1 is a world mulit-national sport in production, driver origin etc etc etc.
it changes and remains fluid with new and different track locales, etc.
It is not static this sport! It is not about only Ferrari at all. Far far from it.

A wide lens is needed to view all that is F1 over time.
