That makes sense. I too have never had a vibration issue with any of my 3 550. In fact, all of these EOM Factory linkages include rubber bushings that absorb the unwanted vibrations while levaing the "good vibrations." Interesting information about the engagement of sixth gear on the 599 and the resolution of the issue.

@brogenville I’d like to keep as close to the spirit of the 456 & 550 as possible in this regard. This was definitely the plan originally, and then, when Art finalized the cable design, he felt it should be applied to the 575 as well.

I think it is better to have it with the shift rods. It as they came from the factory.

Bart- The 575M gearbox was upgraded from the 550 with triple syncros in the lower gears. Not a one for one exchange, although one converted 575M did use a 550 gearbox, so it definitely would work. Gearbox cases are virtually identical.

Bart as a follow up to your and Terry’s post…did you mean just the gearbox or did you mean it’s from a car getting parted out and all the parts needed are available (turret/linkages/etc). Thx

I am aware that a 575 manual box is an improved version of the 550; 10 years of evolution. Manual 575 gearboxes are in limited supply, though, so perhaps there is interest in a 550 box at a reasonable price.

    @eric, sent you a PM.

575 manual and F1 gearboxes are identical. There is no such thing as a manual or F1 gearbox. There is one gearbox with different shifters, linkages, plugs, etc attached depending on whether F1 or 3 pedal.

My 575 played a supporting role in the recent live stream of the Tyler Hoover conversion! I actually jumped onto the YouTube live chat for a few minutes. Looks like the team at EAG is making some progress on my project. I am optimistic that I am going to be heading to Texas soon to pick her up! It's been awhile, so I'll provide a quick update as to the scope of the project:

    1) EAG solid linkage manual conversion with OEM gate ( @Qksilver Thank you for sending me your pristine spare!!! @brogenville Thank you as well, I believe your gate is now on a converted 575 or 599 : )

    2) Full Fabio Fiammenghi Exhaust with sport cats. Working with Fabio is just awesome. Exhaust valve switch integrated in dash via custom button.

    3) @360trev is supposed to apply his magic. Is it on your schedule, Trev? Any interest in sharing expected dyno #'s ;)?

    4) Timing Belt & Major service includes (kit purchased from Ricambi SKU: 575SK1)

    2 x 182931 COVER GASKET 575M/612S
    1 x 182406 COVER GASKET 575M
    4 x 163987 CAM SEAL
    4 x 158349 CAM O-RING (GREEN)
    3 x 182127 GASKET
    4 x 114808 CAM BOLT O-RING
    2 x 187744 TIMING BELT (456/550/575/612)
    2 x 180935 AIR FILTER (ENZO/575/612S UNTIL ASSY 661)
    2 x 206166 OIL FILTER
    1 x 201456 PUMP BELT"DAYCO PV-K" A 5
    1 x 201444 ALT AND COMPRESSOR BELT PVK A6
    4 x 142599 O RING
    2 x 181064 GASKET
    1 x 63897800 FILTER/AIR/COMPLETE
    2 x 324050 INTAKE GASKET (ALU)
    2 x PT550 456/550/575/612 CAM BELT PULLEY

Also, as part of the major, EAG decided to replace both engine and transmission mounts. While installing headers, Fabio recommends installing new gaskets (12X part #143408). These were ordered from AllFerrariPart.com. TBD on the clutch, last reading indicated >90% life.

    5) Leather Refresh - Art called for a "full send". By all accounts, it's looking good.

    6) Audio system refresh. We didn't go full send on this (yet). However, a few people were interested and the Audison's do fit pretty well.

I assume you're discussing the green 575 converted in Forza magazine? As I understand it was an early conversion using a lot of OEM parts.

Kevin- Beats me. Too much water under that bridge. I just know one was done and to simplify the conversion, the 550 gearbox and all its ancillaries was exchanged. Having a broken 550 provides a lot of hard to find parts.

Indeed it does! I wonder if the 550 shifter and mechanisms and rods were different with the factory 575's?

Does anyone have the numbers of teeth of the gears inside the 550 and/or 575 box?
I was making an overview of the different gear ratios between the 456/550/575 series and forgot to count when I recently had these boxes apart. I thought I could take them from the Eurospares site where the teeth numbers are mentioned for the 456, which I knew, but not for the other types.

Thanks. That was not so obvious to me as all part numbers are different, as are the prices per part.

Affirmative, many of the 575M gearbox parts are shared with the Enzo and 612 and have been beefed up for the F1 system.
