RIP... One should remember him, at least, as the actual winner of the race (Dijon 1979, the first win for Renault F1) that saw the famous fight between René Arnoux and Gilles Villeneuve - which was for the second place.
The "Yellow Kettle" as the Renault turbo was called, usually ending races in DNF with the engine boiling. I remember Jabouille spending time to sort out the turbo woes, notably to cure the massive turbo lag. Not many thought the turbo had a future in F1, and the majority wanted to ban it when it started to win.
For the last 20 years, French governments were the spearheads against the ICE, and the switch to EVs. They surrendered to the ecologist lobby that greatly influenced the European Union with their carbon free ideology. The punitive legislation and financial penalties imposed on motorists are cripling their own car industry. So it would be ironic if they were to win anything in a field they seek to destroy.
