Always nice to see Rosso Barchetta against Rosso Corsa for comparison.

    Happy that others enjoy her.

Despite being how she is, it is most likely that she will be sent to DK Engineering for 3-5 months so that all the unseen parts can be brought back, as much as possible, through patient detailing. It is very labor intensive (removing engine, gearbox, four corners,…) but then her condition will go from 90% to 95% (an upper limit due to the preservation standard/constraint which guides what is to be done and what is not).

As Prancing 12 would put it ‘a personal passion project’).

    Will keep you posted.

    So Cal
Anyone have a guess of how many F50’s are registered now in the U.S.?
I know there was approximately 54 originally spec’d for US but was wondering how many additional may have made it over here.

    Thanks,
    J

I would estimate around 80-85 cars currently in the US and I don't think it's an exaggeration to say "dozens" of those have been imported to the US in the last 24-36 months.

I know one source sent over for permanent US title at least 5 in the last 18 months.

Taking about sending F50s to the US, can someone please elucidate me on any of the following:
    1. Is transport from Europe through CARS at a cost in the range of $25-50k?
    2. Is the main fee payable for the car’s US registration 2.5%? Does that percentage applies to the car’s purchase price by the importer (which could be relatively low if purchased many years ago) or to an estimation of the current market price?
    2. Is it easy to find proper storage (eg at an official Ferrari Dealer) and full insurance (eg Chubb) for the period the car is there and sells?
    3. Now that the car has US title, what taxes are due for the owner living in Europe who just sold his US titled car (like capital gains tax or so)?
    4. Any names of respectable legal firms who can manage the process.
    Thanks in advance.

    1. Yes, though on the lower end and has been trending lower.
    2. Yes. 2.5% is the import duty and should be applied to the documented acquisition price paid by the owner importing the car to the US.
    3. Yes & Yes (or other options, like Hagerty)
    4. In similar situations, I know some foreign owners sending their cars to the US have registered an LLC in a non-sales tax state, such as Montana. That can be frowned upon around here sometimes, so I can PM you more information if you'd like.
