the one that got away! I did a PPI on that car when it was in italy. Should have bought it. got stuck $10k apart with the seller. I wonder where all the spares ended up...
My advice for someone interested in this car. The driver’s carbon seat has a missing carbon-kevlar cover near the brake handle. Eurospares has 1 left in stock! Buy it now or never.
Is that car in the States now?? To me it's the ultimate F355 -- but the 'registered for road use' thing isn't much use to us in California on a Euro car.
First time posting here, but I’m looking at a 99 F1 Berlinetta for sale with 12k miles for $100k in Arizona. Carfax does show an accident to one side of the car in 2003, but the car remained functional. Car has sticky buttons, a little over a year until major is due, and is RC/black color. Car appears to be in fairly good condition and had $20k in service done about 4 years ago (new clutch, flywheel, throw out bearing, fuel pump due to it sitting too long, belts, and other small associated items). I’m new to the Ferrari world and don’t want to get robbed. I’m planning on scheduling a PPI, but curious what price range I should be looking at considering offering on the car if the PPI goes well. Thanks, and please don’t roast me too hard on my first go at this.
Wow! I'm actually quite surprised to see that Curated has this Challenge. I considered it a year ago. I felt the dealer was a little high on the ask. One particular thing that concerned me was the corrosion that was evident in the pictures on the frame rail next to the VIN number. After bringing this to their attention, they promptly removed that picture from the listing. I might have gone to see the car in person but that turned me off. Aside form that it seemed like quite an exceptional example. All of the spares and the carbon seats were certainly a huge bonus! I'm curious what their asking price is.
the exchange rate moved a lot last year. When the car was available, I think I was figuring it was ~$195-200k landed in the US. I remember the price to be 165 or 170k euro plus they wanted 10k for the spares. It needed to be serviced and had been sitting for close to 20 years. Didn't idle during the PPI. So I assumed after a engine out, tires, etc I was budgeting being into the car $210-220k. Too many variables and unknowns for me at the time. I didn't think the price warranted the potential surprises. Maybe the buyer got a better deal. in hind sight, after seeing the car state side, should have bought it.
Yeah, one of those "one that got away" for sure. I'm sure Curated has done plenty of work to it. Their pictures are exceptional as always but the car does look pretty much the same. I just looked back at my email and they were at 165 euro with me. I believe that to be with the spares but like you Matt there were too many variable for me to pursue it further. It was really at the top of my budget so I didn't want to take that much risk at that price. I really hope to see this car in person some day as I am still in love with it!
Not sure if you are who I sold my last F355 to or not but I had 99948. Black on black GTB that I was told was the first 355 delivered to California. Originally owned by Gold Metal Olympian Peggy Flemming and husband.
Thanks for the info. I know it is regretful but... you will know the right one when you see it. You just will. And this one wasn't.
