From what was told to me, the plate warps easily. They have a new plate design that shouldn't warp so easily

Thanks for that, I'll check if the workshop are aware of the plate warping issue.

Only issue I have had is the battery. I only have 3k miles on the 2018 so it stays on the conditioner a lot. Consequences of only living 5 minutes from work!

About to replace battery with a Varta next week and have upgraded CTEK Conditioner to MXS 10 to hopefully keep charge level higher.

No issues other probably battery related (will report back if they don’t go away).

Having brake recall done and annual oil change etc. Getting them to listen to air con as it rattles when on.

Gasket issue? Should I be looking for that as mine is early car.
Other than niggles like seat belt mechanism rattle she has been brilliant for 3000 miles in 9 months of ownership. Just planning a trip to take her home to Maranello in September.

I had 5K miles on my SF- no problems other than the start-stop function never worked- which to me was a plus!
My GTS 3K miles and no issues other than a very squeaky brake over the last 1K miles. Had it checked at the dealer who responded it’s normal for CC brakes to squeak. A materials engineer they are not- the squeak usually due to ceramic oscillating due to imbedded impurities on the ceramic surface. Impossible to clean off and requires a disc replacement. I can’t blame manufacturers for saying it’s normal as it does not affect performance and would cost them a fortune in warranty repairs

Check this area for oil, if you have oil then the gasket has gone and you’ll need it replaced. And get the plate replaced while they’re at it.

Expensive for sure, and likely waaay more than it should be, but it does require a good amount of disassembly and reassembly to replace the battery. It's not quite unhook the battery and lift it out.

    Crikey!!!

Varta was approx $250 shipped and dealer (friendly one) quoted an hour to fit which seemed perfectly reasonable considering the damage I could do dropping the heavy one on the wing lifting it in haha! So less than 50% of that and decent battery.

    Thank you - much appreciated.

Any guide in mileage this occurred or it’s random?

Mine 9.5k miles on her. Will check but I think I would have noticed oil there but better safe than sorry. Mine is very early car (dealer demo Jan 18 - just checked and it’s her birthday today!!!)

So I imagine it would have that issue if it’s there.

    Cheers.

A local independent in the UK has stopped fitting Varta as they say the quality has gone down. They now fit Duracell Extreme AGM - about the same price as the Varta

I have done it myself, and honestly I'd do it again now that I know all the steps. There's a couple tricks to it that the workshop manual doesn't cover. The worst part is hoisting a heavy battery out of the tight spot that it's in.

My 812 SF has been in the Dealer workshop since before Christmas to resolve the current fuel system problems (to date-RH fuel rail replaced twice) it’s now awaiting a high pressure fuel pump, which the factory has quoted 3 weeks for delivery to the workshop… because it has to travel by road from Italy !

The oil leak/gasket problem was also identified before Christmas and is pretty obvious as the oil has settled in the plate surround. Car is now 3 years old and shows 23.5k miles….. Love it !

Big THANKS to SeattleStew indicating the “warp” factor. As a result I’ve asked the workshop to also check/replace the plate… which they had not heard of before. The last thing I want is another trip back to the workshop because simply changing the gasket was not enough.

Battery was changed in the summer at 15.5k mls….. and the car lives on a Ctek MXS10 conditioner when not in use.

BTW..are you planning a factory tour on your Maranello trip, absolutely worth getting your Dealer to set that up for you, if still possible.

Oddly I forgot the major issue which was a fuel pump died!

In car park of a Hilton - joy at everyone watching it on the truck.

It was apparently stripped and cleaned and sorted - it started but then ‘died’ like it was being staved of fuel (which it obviously was) but wouldn’t respond to throttle or anything.

Been fine since to be fair and done a few miles since.

Just hooked her up to MXS 10 for first time so see what it’s like in a couple of days and notice any difference when starting.

I thought Varta were the ones to have - I shall see over next year or so!

So did the fuel pump strip/clean solve the problem or was it replaced ?

I bet the Hilton viewers enjoyed that, probably on You Tube somewhere :)

    Probably!!

Strip and clean appears to now work perfectly - idle is a little lumpy on cold start up but settles after a minute.

Unless that’s in fact I’ve of something else and my paranoia is kicking it properly haha

Going to inspect oil on Monday before heads for service and see what new battery does and using MXS10 conditioner instead of Ferrari OEM dross
