I swear that the are more luggage set for Testarossa’s for sale on BAT than there are Testarossas[emoji41]. Going for stupid money too! Cars with luggage for sale typically do not any sell for more in my observations.

If you want to a nice set for a reasonable price check collectingcars.com and pcarmarket.com

I have a near perfect black set in classifieds, but it's priced accordingly.

I have the luggage and have used it. We have taken the car on a number of trips and there is no way to get more stuff in a TR than using the factory luggage. It uses the available space more efficiently than any other way.

Very possibly true but it can be sold separately. They do sell and I have never once heard of someone losing money on them.

With the added benefit that anything stored in the luggage will smell like the TR interior / Connolly leather,
so where ever you and the better half go, everyone will know you rock.

Well I dont think Schedoni ever bought leather from Connoly.

2 reasons really. 1. Italy has a very large and very good leather industry. Buying from England makes no sense. And the Italian government in the period was very active in getting Italian business to buy from Italian suppliers for the good of the economy.
The other is the chemistry of leather production world wide until the last 20 years or so was all the same. It was only environmental issues that changed it.

He's a good friend, I can ask but I am really sure what his answer will be.

    Yep.

As far as them buying Connolly - F did it, so I don't know. Maybe back then it made sense.

For the reasons I listed it made far more sense then than now other than the fact Connoly is out of business again. Ferrari did it because it was a name brand they could brag about but it was not a very good product. Ferrari leather wore faster than their contemporaries. Simone Schedoni like his Father and Grandfather care about one thing....quality.

Absolutely. But sometimes it's difficult to predict how materials will age. Case in point their luggage lining from that era.
Even unused sets that were stored with the original cardboard inserts ended up flaking where the lining came into contact with the cardboard.
Mine was stored with the cardboard inserts removed so it survived, but using it would still cause it to flake.

If one intends to use the luggage, the lining can be redone - like this one:

Congrats on your testarossa nathanmack 28...Most likely you're aware of this but if you want your new exhaust to sound right be sure to get rid of the factory pre-cats too. They're a bit of a chokepoint that you don't need. I forget what brand mine are but they are certainly available. Unobtanium could probably make them in their sleep as well. I live fairly close to you (Beaver Mines, near Pincher Creek) we better go for a drive and a beer next summer. Cheers!

Simone Schedoni and I talked about the lining material. It was no secret it was going to disintegrate, Simone told Ferrari exactly what was going to happen but Ferrari demanded it be used.

    :D

I bet Enzo would like a rebuttal: Schedoni senza Ferarri non è possibile.
The ones after Enzo passed have lining issues also, albeit less so.

Enzo was right - not just planned obsolescence, but rather creating something beautiful but imperfect, that can become timeless.

That the lining is so fragile is a blessing in disguise - the sets that survived are all the more special, having transcended the functional and ephemeral.
Purists may complain, as they do about garage queens, but ...

Ferrari the company. Not Ferrari the man.

    Enzo didn't give a **** about luggage.

According to Motortrend Enzo talked Schedoni senior into supplying free Formula 1 seat trim in exchange for a prominent display of the company's logo on every racing car.

And what has any of that to do with this conversation? I could have sworn it was about luggage?

Seat trim btw consists of a layer of leather on a hard shell. Sweat soaked, it was replaced every race. It is no longer done but every old hide is still in the upstairs office marked with the drivers name.

Article is very out of date. Leather F1 driver seats is history. And they have not done Ferrari luggage in years. They do Aston, Bentley and maybe Bugatti, I do not recall.
