Maybe it’s so limited and only for a select group of people? Like the 30 year anniversary tour book for the McLaren F1, that I was interested in. In the end I was offered the last available copy for a silly amount of money, and said thanks, but no thanks.

I wasted about 30 minutes looking for it with no results. Had I known the price I wouldn’t have bothered….;)

Just curious, how much over retail were they asking?

GBP350.- by the publisher, so that was retail. Only 30 copies available for outsiders, all done by Porter Press, who’s now offering a 3 book F1 GTR set (including the tour book) for GBP750.- when the 2 book set is GBP405.-

I was quoted about the same by the publisher—£300 before tax. They seem to be about 250ish pages, and the content seems similar to the previous McLaren F1 anniversary tour books so I had a hard time pulling the trigger. The photos of the F1s on the ferry were the highlight of the tour imo.

There is no mention at the website of Porter Press and no trace on the web. Do you know where I could order the 3-book set?

You already have the email address. Good luck, but I think the standard 2 book set is a far better deal.

A few years ago this book was published on the 308 rally cars.

Does this book contain chassis info (perhaps even histories) of the Michelotto 308 GTB Group 4 and Group B cars or is this more a picture book?

It's so sad that Ferrari isn't publishing anything about their (hopefully) glorious return to endurance prototype (hypercar) racing - no brochure, no book, nothing! Why?

It would have been a splendid opportunity to pay tribute to the great endurance history of Ferrari and to assemble a very special brochure or book about their endurance history with the help of Ferrari archives (and others!). Just take a look at how Bentley, Aston Martin and Porsche did it years ago!

We have been flooded for years with cheap Scuderia merchandise articles made in China, but no effort taken to pay tribute to history in style on occasion of the return to Le Mans, Sebring et. al.

So, let's stick to some motor magazines like MotorSport who are doing a great job in preparing us for the saison and the Ferrari-Porsche duel.

No chassis number information in this book, it starts with brief histories of the 308 road car and Michelotto, and then it’s a summary of the racing seasons with a lot of interviews and pictures.

Thank you, it seems this is not a book for me then. I was hoping to find info on which car ran where. For example, it seems that Jolly Club had several 308s as team car.

So basically it is a kind a reference picture book more suitable for car modelers.

May I ask for some opinions about the book "N.A.R.T.: A Concise History of the North American Racing Team 1957 to 1983" by Terry O’Neil? Is it worth to buy? It is hard to find some book in recent about these racing teams' history. I have read the Charles Pozzi book and it taught me a lot.

I agree with you, but maybe there's nothing to say about the car yet, or at least nothing they want to share?
I attended the media presentation of the 499P at Imola, and information was very scarce (there was an embargo after all - hey, what could I say, the car is red?) - and it still is. I guess they'll do something at the end of the year ?

Well, there is a lot to say in my view. Just take a look at Youtube at some tech channels, where the technical layout and aerodynamics of the 499P are discussed at length. And there would be a lot to say why they made certain technical decisions. And even more to say about Ferrari's history in endurance racing. Even if they didn’t know what to say, I would be happy about some Roma-like picture book ;)

I totally agree, but all these technical discussions are pure speculations (and you can see and read everything and its opposite, especially on aerodynamics), very little information comes from Ferrari.

I can't imagine Ferrari missing the opportunity to publish a lavish and extraordinarily expensive book about its endurance history - or at least the image it wants to promote of that history. The presentation of the car at the Ferrari Finalli Mondiali gala dinner was a-ma-zing and absolutely thrilling, just because of the symbolism of this return. Let's wait a bit...

Way too early to publish anything serious about this car, it would inevitably end up in some PR b...it, which everyone can follow elsewhere. In my opinion it does only make sense at the end of the car’s/ formula life. I mean, we are still waiting for books about way older cars. What you describe is more an official press release.
