Aha, makes sense. I saw the pic and thought, now that's a clever idea for the track that is probably quite effective!

Who wants to be the first to “paint” (not sticker) or silkscreen a Ferrari logo onto a caliper in the exact same period correct font, size, and position as intended by Maranello?

I searched high and low. It has never been achieved.

Every 355 owner should be sending their calipers for restoration to the person who can accomplish this.

NOS standard calipers are now unobtanium. I most likely bought the last black set in the world. We’re going to see some funky/non period correct looking caliper restorations from here on out if someone doesn’t step up.

I'm going to do it. I screenprint all kinds of stuff - replicate Fiamm batteries for Countach, Corte & Cosso door and hood struts, seatbelt tags, etc. I just bought everything for the front of my 355 - Porsche big red replica / Girodisc 550 rotor setup.. going to paint mine yellow to match the fender shields and screenprint the logos. I'll post results here when I'm done.

Ken, the brakes look great and I'm sure stop even better!

355 calipers are the exact same Brembos used on narrowbody Porsche 993's, right? Only difference is the Ferrari logo?

I believe it's the ATE calipers that are the same. But the Brembos from the 355 do bolt onto the 348.

    They take the same pad as 964 (front 89-91, F+R 92-93), 944 turbo, 968, and the rear of a narrow-body 993. Front pad in a narrow-body 993 is bigger.
Bolt spacing is the same (3.5"), and offset is likely the same. Rotors are 298 x 24mm, f355 is 310 x 28 I believe? Unsure of piston size, so I can't confirm the caliper is exactly the same. Brembo stuff gets confusing because two calipers can look the same, bolt up fine, use exactly the same pad, but the piston size can be different, ruining pedal feel - or worse!

355 front rotor is 300mm. Rear is 310mm

Caliper piston is 40mm/36mm all around.

    *side note. I have a 355 caliper w/pads weighing 8lbs.

I’d like to get the non-drilled OE front rotors weighed on my scale once I have them removed. So far, reports are they weigh about 19 lbs.

    Recap:

    Non-drilled OE Front Rotors = 19lbs

Drilled OE Front Rotors = 17.5 lbs

    Girodiscs 2-piece front rotors = 14 lbs

Just spent a while reading and catching up on this old thread. I have a few questions perhaps someone can help with.

    1. Will the OEM e-brake only work on one-piece 310mm rotors such as OEM spec? Could they work on a 355mm rotor without having to MacGyver a custom bracket for it?

    2. Are the challenge calipers nickel plated or coated/painted in something else? They seem to have a subtle color other than aluminum.

    3. Are there any 2-piece drilled rotors in stock size 300/ 310mm that would work with the stock calipers the e-brake

    4. If, as it seems, there are no possible rotor upgrades available that would work with the e-brake, are there any available Brembo calipers in a size that would work with the stock OEM drilled rotors that have the same finish as the challenge calipers with the red Brembo logo?

apologies if some of these questions are dumb. I am a simple man

I have a set of challenge brakes with custom rear hats to allow the ebrake to work. So if there is a two piece rotor with e-brake provision, you could use those with larger rotors (provided they use the same hat) to create a bigger set. I'm going to have a buddy 3d scan my rear hats so I can have extras made.

Brembo has two piece rear rotors that bolt on and work with the factory e brake setup. They are bigger of course but I bet you could get the stock factory diameter rotor size from Brembo. Probably some other application that bolts to the Brembo rotor hat.
