how are they different? I am RHD but I just assumed they would all be the same (assuming they’re motor adjusted)
They are angled slightly differently between LHD and RHD cars, hence the different part numbers. So for example, if you were to fit a pair of LHD mirrors on a RHD car; the neutral view point will be angled more towards the passenger seat.
but surely it could be overcome by positioning the glass correctly? Would it make that much difference really?
I was just stating the difference there Kev. I learnt this from a very knowledgeable owner, who has a set of genuine mirrors on his car. Tbh I’m not sure how much adjustment you can achieve with the mirror glass itself, since I don’t know the exact angle of the stalks. But the edge of the glass will almost certainly be poking out of the case, if adjusted to its extremity. Whether that bothers or not is down to personal preference. That said, the mirrors will still bolt on the same, and one could just live with it I suppose.
sorry if I came across as challenging - it wasn’t my intention. I guess if I had the option of only LHD CS mirrors or none, I’d live with the ‘imperfections’ providing they were useable and didn’t look daft!
I currently have the RTuned mirrors and the first set was indeed a LHD set and they were unusable regardless of glass angle, so there must be a difference in stalks, Richard then swapped them for the RHD set and all was perfect. So it seems that in the case of the CS mirrors there is a difference LHD to RHD.
so I also have the R-tuned mirrors and have never been happy with the passenger side (left side as my car is RHD). It’s always angled too far into the cabin so for me to see out, I need to lean forward against the steering wheel! I never thought that this was the cause! Lol thank you
Oh not at all, sorry I wasn’t implying either just expanding on my earlier post. But yeah I agree, especially at this price point compared to what OE mirrors are asking!!!
I also purchased a set of R-Tuned mirrors. The drivers side (LHD) was almost 1" higher than the passenger side! R-Tuned said that is the way they should be. I sent them back and got a refund. I have a set of 458 GT3 dry carbon mirrors that I am adapting to the 360 mounting triangle. Had one set made but the mirrors vibrated way to much so we are now re-designing them. It's been a interesting project to say the least!
I am not going to be reproducing them. This will be the only set. Will post some pictures when complete. Thanks
Agreed, if the OP cracks this, it would be great result for the 360 aftermarket community imo. If I owned a CS, I’d seriously consider buying a set to use and placing my unicorn OE mirrors into safe storage.
this was not possible on the e36 m3 back when the mirror was all the rage for e36. I fitted a rhd mirror to my car and it is unusable
Getting closer to getting a sample done! Should have some progress pics soon Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Please re-design this part! The OE design is terrible... I am a CS owner who would be interested in a set so I can take the originals off my car and keep them safe, if you manage to get them looking 100% OEM.
