The old cars sell for their charm and history - every 250 GTO has a sensational race history. 9 out of 10 current Ferrari customers would not prefer the driving experience of a 250 GTO over something like a Speciale. The 60’s cars are just such hard work to own, maintain and drive. And most of their owners have newer Ferraris in the garage that they mainly drive. They are beyond beautiful and works of art. That’s what drives their values, not because they are a suitable driving proposition for the 21st century. I love driving our F512M but it’s much more of an effort. Great in small doses but a 296 on a 2k mile road trip is much better (I took our 512 on a 2k trip last year so I do know).

In the end you need them all and they all have their place. I don’t prefer the new, I don’t prefer the old. They are all to be celebrated. No point moaning about regulations, they have always been with us. Even the old cars are affected by them (Porsche impact bumper anyone?) Focusing on that just eats away your life. Instead, look at the clever solutions currently being offered and find out what’s great about them. Building more of what the world has also done well seems rather boring to me. I don’t need another gated manual, I have them. I don’t need another Speciale - could they really improve it?

Just subscribed to varryx to be a patron. There seems to be a lot of yellow cabling under the Roma v12 hood.
    Looks like a 48v system.

yellow? how thick are they? it might just be a distraction to keep you guessing..

the FUV engine bay has no visible cables...and it does have a 48v system for the suspension

Just speculation. Image is from a distance and looks fuzzy. Looks fairly thick protruding above the engine next to the firewall.

That would be very curious if it actually happens, hopefully we will not begin to see electrical warning labels on the test mules...

I don’t think they mandate the yellow stickers for 48v systems.

Correct, car must contain systems running at 60v or higher for the electric warning badges on test mules, thus if 48v it will not receive. That is the reason for my comment, if we do suddenly see such warning badges, it would indicate something else happening...

There must not be a worst popular misconception than this saying.
Cars are machines. Their attributes are objectively measured by engineering criteria. Driving a classic vs a modern car highlights the huge technological leap that has occurred in the past decades.

That's the muffled sound of GPFs, neatly trims all the high frequencies so all that remains are the low notes...

The 812GTS sounds better than this in it’s current state.

New EU "drive by noise regulations" will cause further disruptions in "sound emotions".

    https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s40111-018-0010-7#:~:text=This regulation set PB noise,by 2024 (phase 3).

In Europe, most of these initiatives focused on reducing traffic noise at the source by applying measures on new cars. Subsequently, limit values for Pass-by (PB) noise were lowered from 82 dB (A) in 1970 to eventually 74 dB (A) in 1992. After a 15-year-long discussion to define a replacement for the ISO-362 measurement method, introduced in 1975, the UNECE working party on noise introduced regulation UN/ECE R51.03 in 2014. This regulation set PB noise limits to 72 dB (A) as of 2016 and also defined future emission reductions with limits of 70 dB by 2020 (phase 2) and 68 dB (A) by 2024 (phase 3).

and, new testing methods will actually make it much worse than previous decibel reductions...

Absurd is not understanding the ridiculousness of the markets. May I remind the 1929 stock market crash, Lehman Brothers and the housing bubble?

Did anyone see the yellow cables that I mentioned under the hood? Has to be some sort of hybrid. The sound is quite muffled compared to the 812gts.

So will there be a naturally aspirated V12 replacement for the 812? Trying to cut through all of the BS in this thread.

So far the consensus is yes to a N/A V12 but may or may not be a hybrid
