Well I don’t want to be pessimistic but Ferrari must unlock SF23 potential sooner than later ( if there is potential) because it’s already game over..
I get the feeling that Alonso threw in his own logic to benefit himself. Telling the team to let him do all the driving, as it makes more sense to have the race driver do the testing vs the reserve driver. The team gets the data no matter what, but Fernando gets the mileage, gets familiar with the car, and can help direct the development how he wants.
This is not the first time a F1 car has a full undercut tunnel on its sidepods. The Ferrari F192A (1992) and Toro Rosso STR6 (2011) had it too... Image Unavailable, Please Login
That’s quite the smartest thing to do; you can’t argue he’s not committed. And only losing to Verstappen seems ALO is hungry for the title whereas Sainz is so happy finishing behind them. I bet Sainz is going to finish fifth this season as he did in 2021 and 2022, he’s quite consistent in what he achieves.
No one was running near full beans. They were over 2,5 sec off of Leclerc's pole time from 2022. Just a reminder that RB & Verstappen were fastest in the last preseason testing session in 2022 by around 0.700 over Ferrari; yet when Bahrain race weekend came, Ferrari and Leclerc dominated. This week is all about set up, not times.
Complete top speed comparison! (‘22 on the left, ‘23 on the right) '23 (change over '22) -RB: 326 (+4) -Ferrari: 325 (+7) -Williams: 322 (+7) -Haas: 322 (+2) -AT: 322 (+6) -McL: 322 (+8) -Aston: 321 (+11) (!!!) -Merc: 322 (+6) -Alfa: 318 (+2) -Alpine: 316 (-5) Aston Martin may have figured something out...
I know where 80% of those 11 seconds came from at AMRF1.....hint: Vettel and Stroll of 2022 were taking it easy.
well...I hope not. I think Lando will be the next merc driver. That Mclaren is so damn dreadful right now, and Merc doesn't quite look a contender either and he hasn't signed a new contract yet (normally at this point the contract is already sewn up. IMO he's waiting to see where the car will be and whether to extend or not). Norris a lot cheaper than Leclerc...
Mercedes are running what is essentially a late 2022 spec wing, which was a high downforce wing. They are expected to use a different rear wing when they learn about this car more, which is a lot more stable The ferrari is bouncing a bit. Playing with ride heights I suspect
Yes I do. It’s called pessimism. It’s served me well over the decades of being a Ferrari fan. It ads more excitement when they win. Very healthy
Testing not worth a comment. You run your program, you collect your data, you use that data to bring the total package together when it counts. Q1. sjd
