Don't end up on my blocked list there whipper snapper. And Bitcoin has no intrinsic value. As Charlie Munger said recently, "you're just trading turds" Ray
Dollars have no intrinsic value to people under the age of 30, what’s your point? “I'm not entitled to have an opinion on this subject unless I can state the arguments against my position better than the people who are supporting it.” — Charlie Munger Better hit the books on bitcoin guys
Again, i could buy them with bitcoin- what’s your point? You should join a bitcoin forum and poke around asking questions and commenting about how valuable dollars are for purchasing goods and services (but horrible for storing your value over time) i just know you’ll get a friendly and understanding response from the forum members, willing to help you out on the spot. You do not individually speak for an entire generation. Moreover, the phrase 'people under the age of 30' in this context is wildly "first world". A majority of the world's population is under 30 years old, and living in such abhorrent political, economic, or social conditions that 'bitcoin' is little more than mental masturbation in the Northern Hemisphere. I hope you did make billions of dollars trading cryptos -- good for you! That is indeed awesome, and you should be proud. But don't assume your perspective on that individual 'currency' is globally accepted.
You know... now that I think about it, it might have been 458 Italia manuals. But as you know, I'm getting older, so my memory isn't what it used to be Please accept my humble apologies. Ray
1) im not assuming that, it was a general statement as can be seen by investing rates per generation. Look up the statistics. 2) i do not trade “cryptos” i save in bitcoin and use it as my unit of account. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
1) posting private correspondence 2) accusing me of theft 3) being old and dumb and trying to tell me about servicing belts when you havent even done it yourself Reported Blocked Called the FBI Notified homeland security Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Man, you know back around 2011 or so, Bitcoin was maybe $80 or $100 per coin and there was this guy on Facebook - one of my very, very few friends on there - and he was pounding the table on Bitcoin and talking about how it was the future, blah, blah, blah. For a moment, I almost thought about dumping $10K or $100K into Bitcoin "just for the F of it". Wish I had now. I also wish I had loaded up on Apple stock when a friend's NY hedge fund manger called talking about how at $5 per share it was a screaming buy. I told my friend the manager was nuts and Apple was almost bankrupt and he should fire that guy. So yeah... take my advice lightly. Anyway, my only point is that Bitcoin isn't a good investment as far as traditional long term investments generating a return go. It's maybe an okay store of money - as long as the bottom doesn't fall out of it - and it might be okay as a speculative trading vehicle. However, longer term, I don't think it's going to end well - especially if more governments start to crack down. So there is high risk inherent in owning it, I suspect. I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first or last time (refer to Apple trade above). Anyway, keep everyone posted on the 360 stuff. Ray
Old and dumb are relative terms. If you were older, you'd realize that. And you are correct, I have not done the belts on the 360. However, I have built and timed a lot more motors than you have. I think you need to proceed very cautiously as you move forward with your motor project over there. I do hope it all works out. Hey, we are both in CA, we should hang out sometime. Ray
Apologies to all the helpful people following this thread, going to try and keep this on topic from now on. Just going to block the trolls. Tomorrow i’ll be removing all the cams and spinning the engine over and that’s about it for the day. I’m waiting on a few things in the mail to get a really accurate TDC. SUSPENSE for the haters! Good luck tomorrow brother! Despite what you might think, my hats off to you for digging so far into the 360. Fingers crossed. Ray
I think that staying on subject would be helpful. In addition, I see little need to be rude on this forum nor any other mode of communication.
I’m the rude one that needs to stay on topic but he accused me of theft multiple times, posted a private correspondence, and has been continually commenting on personal aspects of myself? Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Man, I'm almost afraid of posting on this one, but you only live once right...take all from a point of curious not as instigating. 1- If you use Bitcoin as a value store, aren't you concerned with the volatility? I don't trade in bitcoin as I don't understand it well enough to be comfortable with it. I feel like bitcoin went from like $60k per unit to under $30k in a year. As a store of value I'd be super frustrated if my "Savings" changed that much. I'd view money in bitcoin as investment (which is more likely to be volatile or speculative). Questions are legit curiosity, no judgement, just seeking to understand 2- I've contemplated tackling the belts on the 360 as well. I've done quite a bit of work on motors, cars etc... over a long period. Like you I usually just jump in and figure if someone else can do it, so can I. I haven't hit the go button as the TDC and timing isn't something I feel I perfectly understand...on a $30k motor I just don't want to screw up. Good for you for being confident enough to tackle it - I hope it works out. Do me a favor and post pics and insight along the way, it might help others.
That's the problem. You should not be afraid to post. We were all beginners once. Newbies should be able to come here without fear that other members will cut them off at the knees. IMO the quickest way to silence the noise-makers is to not engage them.
Unfortunately many forums bring out the worst in people. A sense of anonymity that allows boorish behavior. My mother always taught me “that if you have nothing nice to say say nothing at all.” Sadly, values lost by many people these days.
I came on here to help and learn more about the 360 engine and you are all talking about BITCOIN. This is not Bitcoinchat! Hopefully we can get back on topic... Just sayin'
You're starting to remind me of how my 9 year old and 10 year old fight with each other... "Yeah Dad, but my sister did this and mom didn't believe me". Okay, okay.. everyone chill out. I don't think I accused you of theft. I asked if you were the individual on the forum who never paid me, then I walked that statement back and apologized because I think I was in error. Also, I don't think I posted any private correspondence between us did I? I only PM'd you to offer help and guidance with your 360 stuff over there and you responded like a nice person and we were having a nice discussion about cars, I thought. I've since cleaned out my inbox, but I did message you this morning asking what method you were gonna use to establish TDC on the 360 motor. And as far as "commenting on personal aspects of myself [sic]", you have not exactly been an angel on this thread. You've been rude, abusive, insulting, disrespectful and have made your fair share of harsh comments. You've racked up 66 posts and so far I think I speak for everyone here when I say most of us are probably still deciding if we really care much further whether or not you destroy your motor or not. Hope it all works out for ya, but I've had enough and you are going on the block list, which means this entire silly thread is going on the block list. Good luck on the car. Ray
@mferrari43 do your leak down. If all good..set the cams on the scribe marks and assemble. The car will run just fine and have no engine light. It may not be "perfect" but to be honest most Ferrari owners wouldn't know a good running car if it slapped them in the face. In modern terms the 360 engine is as basic as it gets.
