I hope they just forgot to put oil in it. Do they not thrash these engines on the dyno for hours?
As I said above, track conditions are improving and the glory runs are coming. In real news Max has said the new car is a nice improvement on the old one.
According to Luca Furbatto (sp?, TD of AM, formerly of Sauber) on Sky IT, race pace order: RB (small gap) Ferrari (bigger gap) Merc Alpine AM Alfa Haas AT or McL - don’t remember Williams
Alpine 4th? Is he sure? I *really* doubt that. That car looks like a turd to drive. I'd put that behind the Alfa. For there rest I don't disagree: RB (small gap) Ferrari (bigger gap) Merc AM Alfa Alpine Haas McL AT Williams I think single lap pace between Red Bull and Ferrari it's anyones game, But long runs it looks like red bull has it's absolutely nailed. Mercedes with their huge rear wing is running higher engine modes, evidenced by their speed in acceleration zones but still has lack of speed in corners compared to Ferrari and Red Bull, a big worry for them (notably against Ferrari, who are running their low downforce wing and RBR medium). It's got oversteer, then understeer, rarely it hooks a lap. Like I said earlier...Mercedes is either pulling off the most supreme masterclass of sand baggery or they're really in the ****s, yet again (that said, there are 6 teams behind them that would kill for having the 3rd best car)
Indeed, good comparison is Russell to Hamilton, 0.800. Leclerc's lap from the morning definitely the best lap of the day still.
yup... I read an interview earlier that during the shakedown in Silverstone, on a wet, greasy, green track, Max told his engineer on his first lap he'd take T1 flatout. Engineer says NO, impossible...Max did it anyways and car just stuck to the road no issue. Max was asked in an interview how much KG the car lost. He said "a lot, more than I gained in winter" (Max gained 10kg in december, apparently! only to lose it all a month later). Worrying figures all things considered.
All we can say at this point is bring on Bahrain - the actual race that is . . . Happy 2023 F1 race season to all!
