    Happy anniversary!

Wife on work trip to Augusta, GA. Never been, so I tagged along.

Tried some bbq at a small joint across the river in SC. We shared a three meat plate. Enough grub leftover for our lunch the next day. The ribs were the best, then turkey. Ordering brisket away from The Great State of Texas was, as expected, a mistake. They didn't skimp on salt and pepper, to be fair! [emoji2]

I know i'm late, but here's what i meant by lentil soup: Image Unavailable, Please Login

This is Turkish lentil soup, not the kind most people are familiar with. It is quite delicious if do say so myself, popular with everyone here.

It makes for a good starter, and -if you're not that hungry- can be a square meal when you tear small pieces of bread and throw them in.

Me and my family uses this site for recipes, Google Translate seems to do a nice job with the translation. I would really recommend to give it a try! :)

My wife and I have been looking forward to this meal for over a week...and it didn't disappoint. The full notes on the meal for anyone interested are in silver:

Adventures in Charcuterie and Sausage Making

Courtesy of a talented and generous F-chatter, we had four types of handmade Charcuterie, along with my wife's freshly baked baguettes (she made both a regular and a sundried-tomato version - both excellent). My contributions were some rather unworthy cheeses and olives, and a surprisingly good bottle of Bordeaux.

    From left to right:

    - Wild Boar Spanish Chorizo
    - Cacciatore
    - Calabrese (very spicy)
    - Finocchiona (made with fennel pollen)

Dinner last night was a quiche with roasted potato and onion and cream cheese. And something new to us, Pain Perdu , which as best I can decipher it is a fancy way of saying French toast (made with an actual custard to drench the bread in). We used a leftover, very stale baguette. The better news is that when making this dish, you end up with a lot of leftover/extra custard, so we baked that too for dessert. All yummy. [Sorta coincidentally, all of these dishes serve well for breakfast too, so enjoyed them again this morning.]

In an attempt to stay warm in this unending, very snowy winter, we fired up the ooni pizza oven…

    Made 3 pies tonight;

    - White pizza with mushrooms, thyme and onion

    - F-chatter-made Calabrese (leftover from the other night) and store-bought pepperoni

    - Combo with pepperoni, onion and olives

This was one of our more successful pizza nights. All were yummy with great chew to the crust. The dough was great today for reasons of who-knows-why, so these were easy to make and launch. Heck, they even came out nearly round ;)

(Didn’t get a pic of the mushroom pizza after it came out of the oven)
