Well...Corvettes have been ordered over the last 20 years or so with automatics, to the tune of 80% auto/20% manual. Ferraris, in the 430 period, were ordered with 90% F1 transmissions, so both companies have quite correctly made the proper decsision on transmission choice.
Plenty of folks "claim" they want 3 pedal cars, but when the time comes, they clearly want an automatic.

My first sports car auto was a 575M. Now a C8 Z51. If inclined to shift or hold gear just use the M button. Became a left foot braker. No interest in a slower manual except in an outdated car for nostalgia and practicing heel and toe for giggles. Gets old fast in traffic. Fun for a while in the out backs.

After 50 years of owning manual sports cars, I had already decided (long before anyone knew) that if the C8 offered a DCT, that's what I would order.
That said, I have found myself missing my C7 manual (and convertible!). When used prices get back to normal, I am going to find a C7 manual convertible to have around...to give me my 3 pedal fix

I wouldn't give too much credence to that" display...watch the speed starting at about 118mph...it jumps to 150+mph in 3 seconds. And g.force accelerometer says the car is accelerating harder above 120mph than it was at 70mph.
Also, GM reports that top speed of a Z51 is 184MPH, due to drag/gearing
GM says top speed of a regular Stingray is 194mph.

I think they should try it again with a vbox:rolleyes:

I bought my ‘23 Silver Flare HTC off the lot at MSRP. Tripped upon it on Autotrader when awaiting my allocation. It was pretty much the exact spec I was waiting to do, so I bought it.
Got a call from the original dealer that I was waiting for allocation and got that allocation Thursday.
Soooooooo….like any sick minded car nut without any self control I ordered a second Stingray. I figure I’ll trade one of them for the Z06 when I get that allocation in a couple years. :D
I love the new tech bronze wheel option! I figure it will complement the gold/bronze flake in the red mist paint color.
    A very “Ferrari-like” spec.

Very nice. Similar to the spec I’m looking at. Been building it out recently as I’ve had a few hits on my F430 that’s for sale.

Are you planning on keeping the new one then and trading the old one once you get your Z06?

    Here’s what I’ve put together:

Not sure which one I’ll trade. I’ve got a couple years to decide. :)

Not sure I agree with him about the value propositions.
He says SR is a $70K-$80K car and Z06 is a $150K car. I really don’t think a Z06 is nearly “double” the car the SR is. The sound is amazing for sure but real world driving performance is pretty close, they look pretty similar, the interiors and tech are identical. You can take the SR on road trips but what I’ve seen with friends driving their Z06s aggressively the mpg and thus range are really poor, you’d be stopping every 2 hrs for gas. :)
For me having just specc’d a $105K SR, which I think is totally fair money for what you get, I’d be willing to spend ~$175K on a nicely optioned Z06 (~$25K over).

Very nice spec! I love the saddle tan interior with red mist. And, the "bronze" wheels nail it. I have never been able to move to the black wheel look. It always seemed cheap and bland to me - kind of like a black interior. It would be interesting to see how the vent blades would look in body color with all else remaining the same...

I just bought this today for exactly that reason. Its just so much fun. Not fast but fun. That's what I like about it. You can give it hell and not be tossed in jail.

Now I can row some gears again.

    Indeed, it does "stand out"...
Speaking of depreciation, that spec will drop like a rock, IMO
