That makes me sad to read.

Nothing's forced, it's just been a natural progression, and his middle name is Dino after all :)

My son couldn’t be less interested in cars. Just transportation, safe, reliable, good infotainment and that’s about it.

I have just finished refurbishing the F40 Electric car that he had back in 1992 for his son, my grandson Callum, who is only 3 years old and loves everything Ferrari.
Not unusual to find him in my garage stroking my 246gt!

My son just liked cars from day one. I brought him to car shows from age 2 with a Recaro baby seat in the back the Mondial 3.2. We haven't really had time to do many car events lately, but he's still always a "yes" every time one comes up. He's about to graduate college and it was his love of cars and racing (karts, iRacing) that motivated him to study mechanical engineering, with a focus on automotive design. He hopes to work on car design or in motorsport. I wish I could say his friends shared that passion -- but there have literally been none. He has a lot of friends/teammates through iRacing that are into cars, but almost all of them are in Europe. We were all into cars when I was growing up, but it's just no longer a thing, at least in the US.

We built this Hot Wheels cabinet from scratch when we couldn't find a cabinet for sale to our liking -- great father & son project.

I love these stories. Don't have kids, but have seen many a permagrin come on when dads brought their kids to the dealership. I'm the child of a guy who had every Get Smart car (except the 250.) I was nicely ruined from the start.

    Just imagined this scenario:

Go to an art museum to look at beautiful things Stress heavily you can't really touch or enjoy them but from a distance.
Then go home set out some chairs and look at the Dino.
Then say 'Let's go get it dirty.'

My friend and local mechanic, Steve Mastr0ianni, used to be driven to school in dad's SI GTO (#3223GT). They also had a Bizzarrini at the time. Imagine pulling up to grade school in a 5300 Strada!

My kids love to go "car" bowling too. Which is me tossing them in the back of the BMW M3, and we drive around the big looping neighborhood. There's a stretch of road where no houses are and they love when I accelerate with tight turns as they roll around in the back seat. We never go fast, but their laughter will stick with me forever.

My daughter, loves cars, as all my other 2 do.
Just luck, and force of habit. They all hated my 2CV, but now they love it.

Other than about a 10% speedometer error, Dinos make a fun rally car - not to mention having your daughter as the navigator, (assuming she didn't drive) :)

Understandable! We now live in the Me, Myself & I Generation. Good luck. Don't waste your time. Enjoy your toys. So many today with their texting, constant phone to the ear, facebook bs enjoy not the car ,but the radio, their electronics. I don't look back at their stagnate interests. mine had little or no interest in the Ferrari's, 44 foot sail boat, or air plane! So many lost learning ,fun filled weekends, sights to behold, interesting people to meet.

Indeed, this is one of the early road versions, not ours clearly, but she did get to ride in it :)

Not this time of the year. The snow is too high. We sometimes take my sort-of grand daughter (my nephew's 6 year old daughter) to school in my black Bentley Continental GT. Somewhere I even have a picture of her sitting behind the wheel holding a jar of Grey Poupon mustard. In a rural area of pick-up trucks, a Bentley attracts a lot of attention.

Before my kids were old enough to drive, they loved riding in my cars, especially the sporty ones, from a Nissan 300ZX, to a TR6, to the Dino. As older teens, they loved driving one if I'd let 'em. Mostly the BMW M3, and with me in the passenger seat, but they had a great time driving that car. Now in their 30's, one is still a serious car nut, one doesn't own a car (living in New York City) but loves driving mine when he visits, and two couldn't care less about what they drive, what I'm driving, or cars in general.

The one is crazy for Formula One, goes to a couple races every year, watches them all on TV, but drives some kind of Mazda **** box. He is still interested in cars, as we recently went to the REV's Museum here in SW Florida, where he would have spent all day if we could have, and he's shopping now for an older 911 for his "fun" car. He can afford it, single guy, living in California, he's looking and will eventually find what he wants.

As kids they would go with me and help prep cars for concours competitions, hang around all day staring at the cars and enjoying it, but now? Not a chance.

It's ok, I get it. My passion is MY passion, not theirs.

    D
