100% and next 812 is hybrid. Love hearing before seeing exotics and it's my job to let others experience the same.
Exactly this....there is something special when you can hear an exotic/supercar coming and driving towards you. That is a big pre requisite. Hence the reason I passed on the F8 and bought the 812SF
Does your dealer who told you that realize there have not yet been any test mules spotted with the electrical warning/hazard decals? If what they say is true, we expect to see those very soon...well before the reveal in about a year or so...
How do you know from a video test mule what's underneath may be the better question Why would Ferrari build a new car with no hybrid - Puro - is set up for hybrid and the V12 NA is limited. I could be 100% wrong ... welcome to Ferrari.
Significant hybrid requires electrical warning decals which were present on all hybrid mules to date but not in the 167 mules. That is how. And it is doubtful they would test a hybrid without the hybrid tech. In addition, our resident insider has clearly indicated no hybrid on the 167. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Hybrid is too broad a term. There are many potential levels of electric involvement in a powertrain that can be classified as hybrid, from mild hybrid, to electric assist, to full PHEV like the 296 which can be powered by electric only power. The information that I got (from someone very close to the mothership) and posted a few months ago, was that the 812 successor would be a V12 with some sort of electric assist to generate more power out of the motor which appears to have reached its (reliable) limits with the Competizione. I don't know what that means, maybe some sort of KERS, but it was never going to be a highly intrusive electrical system much less a PHEV level hybrid. I don't know what if any cables or stickers would show under this scenario, but I would assume it would be a lot easier to conceal than something with a high degree of electrification. I and others have a great degree of respect for @day355 's information, but there's also a lot of legitimate info flowing from the catacombs of Maranello that there is going to be some electrification in this engine, albeit it minor one. All this is too say that day355 could be technically correct in saying it's not going to be a hybrid and the car could still have some electrification in it. We shall see.
Any electrical system 60v or higher must present warning stickers on the mules..previous FErrari KERS system was 480v, definitely would have warning stickers https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/car-technology/a10303296/ferrari-fxx-k-hybrid-system-warning-light/ a "mild hybrid" would be something like a 48v system could be in development, no warnings needed for that level of power: https://theicct.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/mild-hybrid-emissions-jul22.pdf not directly related to engine power...for instance, from link above: 11 ICCT WHITE PAPER | MILD-HYBRID VEHICLES: A NEAR TERM TECHNOLOGY TREND FOR CO2 EMISSIONS REDUCTION 2.3.2 Electrified peripheral components in mild hybrid vehicles In addition to the standard components, additional systems can be electrified to take advantage of the MHEV 48V electrical system. This includes an electrical compressor or turbocharger, catalyst heaters, air conditioning (A/C) compressor, and auxiliaries such as power steering, power brakes, water pump, and radiator cooling ventilator
That is true. I guess as you say, we just wait and see. Not sure why, but this wait is more challenging than other waits. Maybe because at this point, many of us are afraid our beloved V12 NA will be going away which is a little sad. Not end of the world sad, but sad nonetheless. You do realized this is a bs public forum - correct? No insider would ever post here - it's the stupidest thing to believe he or anyone who knows would post anything and jeopardize the relationship. Regardless there is hybrid in the next 812 but if you want to believe Day who isn't being invited to any special car debuts go right ahead because Ferrari and others don't make people sign NDA's! How much hp does the Purosangue put out
Id also point out that everyone can be correct or incorrect because they often explore different options and some people might see one exploration and say- ah ha! Thats it! But in reality they have multiple options. An example is the 458- almost up to the launch they were running the Scud single clutch and the new DCT in different test cars and hadn’t quite decided. I would expect Ferrari will do something a little more imaginative than dropping an 812 engine into a Roma body. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Marketing is obviously also a huge part of this for Maranello, they're obsessed with it and for good reason. If you think they worked ridiculously hard to try to stop people from calling the Purosangue an SUV, just wait to see what happens when they try to sell the idea that a mild hybrid is not a hybrid. I imagine they will be equally unsuccessful, because at some point people have eyes, and just like in the PS there's no amount of telling them that what they see isn't what they see that's going to work. If it does turn out to be a mild hybrid, it will be fun to watch them try.
This is just as probable as anything discussed above. And while it would have a battery, it wouldn't be a "hybrid". Further, it fits within the smaller displacement narrative. https://www.enginelabs.com/news/ferrari-files-for-an-electric-turbocharger-system-patent/
There's at least one very famous member here who I'm friends with who could make you eat your tie. You will eat it a second time when you discover the design of the 167 and its details. And finally, you will eat it a third time when you have a little surprise after the launch on this forum, and you will really look like a fool. Apparté finished, the subject is 167 and not me. Take the opportunity to learn how to hold a steering wheel correctly while waiting...
I don't wear a tie boo boo.. You chirp a lot .. it's what you do. Just answer do you know the next gen 812 is NA V12 Post a track video - poo bear. Now you know someone who's very famous member ... that would make me eat a tie ... I didn't mean to upset you ...
