Actually, I think this is where it all went wrong when they decided they wanted to be predominantly Italian staffed - the poms are always very good at this.
That car is a HOS, if Dan can't get it to work then congrats to Lando for doing it ......... Oscar will be a genius if he gets it any where near the front but I think he has picked the wrong car as well ..... LH would be crying and whingeing for years if he had have been with McL still................... AND he wouldn't have all of those WDCs
I just finished watching the Netflix show and I must say Dan R comes across as a real dickhead with no semblance of gravitas that one would expect of someone whom has achieved that level in F1. Makes me wonder what advice he gets behind the scenes and what affect it has had on his performance. What a knob
Don't underestimate Netflix abilities on taking things out of context to make someone the villain/darling of the "show". Not seen season 5 but in previous seasons they had no issues in taking radio messages from entirely different races and use them to spin a narrative...
Sure, I get that, but I’ve watched every season and he always comes across as immature and cringeworthy. BTW, the “shoey” is one of the dumbest things I’ve seen
I’ve thought that for quite a long time. I actually find him pretty hard to like. He comes across as an immature teenager who is totally full of himself. Probably not fair and in reality may be a decent bloke just playing up to the world. But if he wasn’t an Aussie I reckon most of us would think he was a total knob based on what we see.
Rob keeps wanting to do a shoey on GG, that’s why we let his tyres down in GI. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
Wow Greg. Tell us what you really think LOL. I have to admit I liked DR a whole lot less when he moved away from Renault and chased the couple extra million. I think that's when I realised there wasn't whole lot of grey matter behind that goofy smile and sharp single dimensional talent. He did have a sensational Monza GP victory in 2021 but generally he was made to look hopeless in way not seen since Raikkonen went back to Ferrari in 2014 against Alonso. At least Kimi still had style. Lando made DR look very very very average indeed. I wonder if Red Bull/Marko took him back as a joke and makes sure he never gets to race again? On another note, here's hoping that we got a shock win at the Bahrain GP this weekend and Alonso wins. It would be an awesome season if Alonso takes the fight to Verstappen. And see emergence of a new F1 superstar Technical Director in Dan Fallows. Fanciful daydreaming? Highly probable but Kimi did win the Australian GP in 2013 in a Lotus. What did Murray Walker often say? - anything can happen and often does!
DR's goofy act is just that, a persona he plays up for effect. Listen to his in-car radio, nothing but serious. You drive these cars on muscle memory, because there is no time to make decisions. Adrian Newey designs oversteer cars, very planted at the front, relatively loose at the rear. This is where DR built his muscle memory, plus he's inherently a late braking, corner-exit oversteer driver, which is why he was faster than Seb when the blown floor (which sticks the rear to the road) was taken away. Lesser designers produce understeer cars, which are fast up to a point, then can't be developed further. This has been every McLaren since the Mercedes era began. They've only won when they had a dramatic power advantage. Lando looked good compared to Dan because he's had a lot more time driving understeer cars and has the muscle memory for them. If Dan gets Cheko's seat in '24, he'll be closer to Max, but not faster. Dan is too old now, he wasted his best years at Renault and McLaren.
Hmmmmm. As you know, I've defended DR in the past. It still doesn't change over 2 years, he was outclassed. As a fan, I was disappointed. 2022 was surprising because I thought Dan would at least match Lando more often. I'm still convinced in a RB (or any car with sharp front end), he would beat Lando. And yes, definitely would be quicker than Cheko in a RB. The talents which have that combination of brain and brawn become versatile and prevail regardless of car or conditions. Like Raikkonen vs Alonso. Kimi is exceptionally talented as we know, just not multi faceted as Alonso.
Whom’s excited???? I feel like RB will be quickest in Quali and race trim and hard to beat. Hopefully Ferrari are best of the rest and not too far behind. Times for this weekends race (AEDST ) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Because he’s not done yet with F1 and wants to keep a foot in the door…. If he doesn’t get a race seat next year or the year after, then I think he’ll move on.
I was looking at all the F1 technical updates for the season opener at Bahrain and I was blown away by the front suspension detailing of the Alfa C43. Apparently Merc does the same thing on their W14. The level of detailing just blows my mind. To see how the front suspension rakes downward and this is integrated into the cockpit sides and upper nose surfaces to pull air down into the undercut so you (presumably) get stronger vortices to seal the floor and feed the beam wing to aid with downforce and diffuser extraction is just brilliant attention to detail. P.S In the Aston Martin Magazine I edit and write, I do tech features on the F1 cars (or the AM F1 car in particular) so I was hoping to see what update package brought to the season opener. Ferrari made a strategic decision not to send LEC out for a final run in Q3, pretty confident he’s be on the second row with a brand new set of softs. I see why they did that, with their pace in race trim. The way I see it, nothing to lose. I was hoping Piastri would make it out of Q3. Hopefully he doesn’t l take too long to match Lando. I could be wrong, but I think it looks like it takes longer for these boys to climb out of the car this year? I'm sure I saw a few times in P3 and Quali drivers getting out of their cars and they seem to struggle a little bit. I noticed it a few times, then it really got my attention watching Max climbing out and getting caught up and one of the commentators even said something about Max being tangled up in the car while climbing out. Something to worry about perhaps in the event of an accident or worse, a fire? Did anyone else notice this or am I dreaming?
