488 Pista Values

    Not correct. It is really dealer dependent. Some were 6 months others 8 months and some had no restrictions at all.

    I'm a bit naive about all this. If our recently purchased, low mileage, slightly modified (cosmetically) 488 Spider appreciates over time, that's just icing on the cake for having "such a great car to drive". If on the other hand it depreciates a little or appreciates less than the cost of taxes and insurance, well that's just what it cost me to have "such a great car to drive". Having bought the "88" only a few months ago, there was the accepted risk that the bubble would burst at some point, but in general, the value of almost all Ferraris goes up with enough time. Who knows? In a few years we may upgrade to a 296 if Ferrari decides to build a Spider variant. The trade will certainly cost us more money, but then that's the cost of driving "an even GREATER car". It's all good.

    I just received my Pista today and paid £289k in the UK for a fairly healthy spec and 4k miles. I have zero regrets it's getting driven. 2k miles a year (fun miles, it'll be trailered to whichever locations I decide to take it) and I'd be highly surprised if it ever drops below £250k if it stays below 20k miles.     I was shocked. I thought the spec was incredible. I didn’t read the comments, maybe something was off with the car.

    Car looked solid, well spec’ed
    No apparent issues
    Comments were only remarkable for an erroneous belief that the car has slicks.
    I’m attributing it to only one buyer in the room whose msrp bid a few days before the end was the final bid. They got a good deal.

    My gut is that the high MSRP is what capped this one. A lower spec Pista has room to bid up to $500k+, but this one bidding up the same $200k puts it into borderline SF90 money. A lot of other solid choices at that price point to weigh beyond a Pista.

    Unlike the SF90, you can take delivery and drive the Pista now. As in, today.

    If you're spec'ing a brand new SF90, the wait is probably 2+ years.

    If you're buying a used SF90, you're looking at another layer of ADM.

    So even with the premium pushing up against the SF90 @ MSRP, it would still be worth it for many buyers.

    Can’t even order a sf90 so it’s either used or nothing. I think I’ve seen this car on sale on Facebook a while back, I imagine you either love the blue or for the money you get the color you want.

    SF90 sold on BaT yesterday for $772k. I’m not saying their equitable or that some won’t prefer a pista over an SF90. Just that the headroom on a $540k MSRP Pista isn’t quite there. I see tons of Pistas in the mid-500s ASK price but much lower MSRPs.

    Merely suggesting that Pistas aren’t back to selling for MSRP with the exception of maybe some very high MSRP ones like this one.

    BaT car didn't sell. It's back on market. The buyer couldn't come up with funds. Check out his user name and that may explain it.

    Having the pleasure of owning both a spider and a coupe (spec'd from new), I regret selling the coupe. I'm back in the market to find another coupe but I find myself struggling with price point to get back in. There are 59 Pistas on Autotrader right now. Dealers holding on price. Many cars are sitting. It's making it a bit tough to pull trigger.

    It would seem that BAT would make an annotation to that effect. They still list it as sold.

    Not according to the comment section. Seller explicitly states buyer couldn't come up with the money and car as back on the market.

    Friend is in a similar position and it’s a stalemate between dealer prices and economic forces. Appears Ferrari dealers have no issues with maintaining Pista prices given their holding costs. One would have assumed prices would have softened, however, six months later dealers aren’t budging on prices.

    When I recently shopped most were $450kmsrp cars asking $550k msrp. Most dealers would only come down 2% or so. Just one persons data point.
