Finally getting around to the major service and found this on the top passenger side of the rear subframe: TB44 /USA/N5
Thinking there may have been a technical bulletin for USA cars and mine was the 5th to get it? Mine is a Sep 94 build, so pretty early production.

Going well so far, haven't found anything unexpected yet, but did notice a crack in the alt belt tensioner housing, so ordered a new one.

That was from the factory assembly, to make sure they decked the right body to powertrain. I'm guessing you have a GTB? Does your car's VIN end with 44? N.5 is probably the team or production cell that assembled the powertrain into the cradle.

It has a September 94 build date, so that doesn't line up. It's a mystery but likely not materially important.

I wish I could help, Pete, but none of the pictures I have that were taken during engine out servicing show that particular view of my rear subframe.

@ShineKen, do you have photos of your early ‘95 sub chassis’?

Interesting, that's the closest explanation so far.

I didn't find any other references while I was in there, but it's back in it's home now.

Had to replace the cam sensors as they disintegrated when I unplugged them, but fired right up after getting it all hooked up. The Ricambi kit is really nice, and I decided to replace the tensioners as I had no record of them being done, ordered friday morning and had them Saturday afternoon. No date code on them so I'm guessing they predate when they started doing that which was mid 90s, so had to have been the originals. I did a full cam cover reseal which was a pita due to the copious amounts of sealer the last guy used. Future me will hopefully be happy I was judicious in applying it. Hopefully nothing leaks. Still a bit to go before driving it, but at least it's running and should be ready to go when the weather clears up.
