Whoever thinks that driving an open Spider will have a better engine sound than in a GTB is wrong!!!

After I've been driving a gtb for months, I did a test drive in a gts and it turns out that in the 296 the sound of the engine sounds best when driving with the car completely closed!!! The sound inside is much better than the sound outside. They did something special that the sound inside the vehicle is excellent!!! So there is no advantage to driving with an open roof in terms of engine and exhaust sound

Normal, the sound is artificial, and as it is absent from the outside, it is hot tubes that take care of inventing it inside...

 

What do you mean by artificial sound?

 

It is not the natural sound of the V 6, there are conical ducts worked to give it this tone and especially to amplify it in the cabin

 

I wouldn't call it artificial, it's still the actual engine sound being piped in. McLaren does this via an ISG and tubes. The 12C also had amplified sounds through the speakers, which I would call artificial, though it was still produced in real time. No such thing on the 296, it's just channeling the live sound into the cabin.

 

FWIW , even in the F8 my feeling is that the coupe sounds way better than the spider I have especially with the top down.

 

i could be in the minority but 10 out of 10 times im choosing a little less sound and open air driving over a coupe with a little better sound.

 

You do know that you can drive the GTS with the roof closed right?
Or with roof closed and tiny magical window down.
Or roof open.

The advantage is choices.
