and what is time spent on pit lane... LONGER for the toyota and even worse if they have to pit under green...
urgh, the live results they're showing for the Ferraris isn't looking good, hopefully sorts itself out after FCY and all the pits.
I haven't done any research into it, but i suspect the timing is just that...one car crosses the line, then the next...FCY neutralizes the field, but doesn't pack them up like a safety car does. FCY will buy them time on pitlane, but really only time... sjd
ohh damn, the Motortrend announcer busting the balls of the Ferrari "professional" driver for an overtaking penalty.
but that's where the rules for WEC are different....you have a time to meet and no passing. The field never packs up, they all do...say... 2:30 laps. The levels of yellow flag: 1. Local/corner only 2. FCY: field neutralized and hold position 3. Safety car: Field allowed to pack up behind the safety car, wave by procedures, etc.... sjd
you aren't allowed to close the gap to the next car? I understand no passing, even if another class, but how can they moderate space gaps. it is to everyone's advantage to close all space gaps, but I guess if possible to keep the prior gaps then more fair to the front cars, I just don't see how they can enforce.
It’s a long race but still don’t understand that early pit stop, especially now that it precipitated that drive-thru for Fuoco which wouldn’t have happened had he not pitted and stayed in the lead. EDIT: now leading after the others’ pit stops so worked out but maybe long game is to eventually save a green flag stop.
No, because there's no Safety car to regulate everyone would just take off. all cars are monitored to a lap minimum, just like F1, and it's so long that any class of car can maintain that minimum, so no one passes and no one gains any advantage, other than it taking LONGER to get through each sector. sjd
I'm still a little confused, I guess because trying to apply to my SCCA experience. I guess the part I'm missing is no safety car. SCCA FCY we always had a safety car, so that allowed closing the gaps because the front wasn't taking off.
we'll see when it goes green, trying to understand the #51 1 minute back of the Cadillac. in GTE #21 488 hanging in there 3rd and #54 5th.
