I recently was given the 5811 and I found it very underwhelming and unexciting on the wrist. Also the white gold is very soft and dings easily. I know this from my “beater” 5740.

Question for the group, has anyone own or have tried on a 5136 Perpetual Calendar with the bracelet? I have a 7 1/2 wrist and curious if the 5136 wears bigger on the wrist sort of like an AP RO.

    +1 on Camille Fournet straps.

for your 5905- you just need the numbers at the lug and buckle. I believe its 21mm at the lugs and 18 at the case. Just confirm with your AD.

They have literally millions of combinations you can do with the straps, stitching lining. and Camille Fournet are the ones that make OEM straps for Patek Phillipe. So when you order from your AD- Patek sends the order to CF.

Agree. Its a Nautilus which means that the instagram influencers love the watch. For most Patek collectors its not a huge deal.

No they do not. When I was in Geneva and we got to try on every watch in the collection (every single one!) they wouldn't even bring out the Nautilus case cause it was like- yeah, we know the hype around this thing, you guys dont waste your time here- look at everything else we have to offer.

For me- the 5711 was just too small. I have yet to try on a 5811 and maybe Ill add one but by no means is it at the top of my list.

BTW- 5905 p and J are leather strap. 5905 a (steel) is steel bracelet.

It is an elegant and modestly-sized watch at 37mm and fairly slim at 10.5 mm. Compare with a Rolex Daytona at 40 x 12.4 and with its low profile strap will wear much smaller than a Daytona. Personally I think it is too small for you.

This thread is bad. I just ordered another CF strap for my 5524 and 5522. Calfskin with Navy Blue color with white stitching with rubber lining. Perfect for summer and jeans. $280 bucks complete.

That's my thought as well, too small. I haven't seen one in person and was hoping it would wear more like a 39mm on the bracelet (wishful thinking). Thanks.

Even before I started collecting watches, I remember saying to myself, one day I will be able to afford a Nautilus, Royal Oak and Daytona. Do not laugh but I had some Corum watches back then that I liked too.B This was well before I even owned my first cell phone. No... I lie. I had one mounted in my dark blue Honda Accord. Remember the silly antennas we used to mount on the outside of the windows? Anyway before the social media hype. I still cannot afford everyone I want, but I still like the Nautilus. I got my second AP last year, and to be honest the allure of the RO has passed. Unless they offer me the all gold version. Maybe once I get the 5811, my interest will die off too. Who knows.
I am going to focus on the 5905. I will ask my AD to see if they have one I can try on.

Meaning the watch looks small on your wrist? I have seen the 5711 in person and agree with SoCal that it looks small. But I still love the bracelet design and the crown guard and left side protrusion that makes it look like it is a hinge to allow the back to be opened like a clamshell.
Congrats however as you now have it in your collection just in case you want to pull it out from time to time. Or to pass it onto a fellow member at retail. Just saying.

I am going to check out that site to see if they make straps for my wife. She has a very tiny wrist. So small, her watches cannot fit around my watch pillows.

They can custom make any size. You just need to know the parameters.

I totally get it. Once you start collecting, then you start focusing on different things not just what’s popular. Nautilus is very popular. But for me it doesn’t serve a purpose in my collection currently. I already have a steel sports watch which is the 5905 which I much prefer to wearing over the nautilus. 5811 is a better size for my 6’4” frame but again- I’m not enamored by the watch so I’ll just hold off and see what’s coming out of the end of the month

Oh that’s right. New models are coming. I wanted to attend the Watches and Wonders, but the mrs said it’s too much traveling. We leave for Italy couples weeks after w&w. Going to see if I can be the first to fly in a EVTOL while wearing a Patek. I’ll post pics if they let me.

I was looking back on my text message chain with my SA who sells jewelry and PP. Trying to find the text where she priced out some diamond stud earrings for a friend. Then I come across this....Never responded. I just got kicked between my legs.

New order to SA. 5811, 5726/1A, 5905/1A, 5205R, 5205G, 5167R (the mrs), and 5164A. And any other PP I can afford. My FA put a bug in my computer and every time I try to click the "Grand Comp" link, my computer freezes.

Are you wanting all of these or is this a wish list of sorts?

I dont think you are going to enjoy the 5905 AND the 5205. Essentially the same watch but different sizes and moon phase on the 5205. Pick one. Both should be attainable for you if you got the 5968

I was kidding about to the SA. In fact I don’t even think she does a “list” for me. From the beginning she just texted me to ask if I liked what was in.
And no way could I handle all of these (financially) at once. Just a list where 100% if I got the offer I would take it. Any models outside of this, it would be an impulse purchase if I did.
I used to be a leather strap guy, but I lean more towards metal or rubber now.
But I would love a Patek on a leather right about now. The 6119G was not cutting it for me.

Funny to say this but I would consider the 5205 a great “tool” watch for me. Honestly don’t even know what that means except that I heard it used for watches. I am assuming a watch with functions to use on a daily bases outside of telling time.
And so since I very frequently ask what day is it, an annual (with days I’m letters) calendar would be a great tool watch. I’m digging the pushers. I have a UN limited Sonata and can never remember how to set the GMT and the alarm. It had large pushers but not like Patek

for that purpose the 5205 is indeed a tool watch. For me personally its just to small which is why I prefer the 5905. I think the 5905 in steel is a great all around watch. ITs sporty, its dressy- its functional with the annual calendar. I absolutely love it.

The one advantage of a leather strap Patek is Camille Fournet. Literally im on weekly looking at different straps. lol. Its so much fun to customize a strap for relatively little money.

The 5905p is just so elegant but the reason I sold it is when I got my 5270, it became a bit redundant as a dress watch.

2 more weeks to go till we find out whats coming next.
