This is a very poor 308 afterthought . I would not even refer to it as a 308, its that bad.

Ridiculous. The development of the 308 based cars by Michelotto was a critical part of numerous cars that came after the 308 group iv, group b, and GTM cars including obviously the 288 GTO and through other supercar development as well. Michelotto developed race cars contributed directly to that process and were hardly an afterthought as much as a skunkworks for Ferrari to race. It’s also a reflection of an difficult dynamic of having Fiat own a majority of Ferrari in that period and how Enzo continued to look after race cars even under the constraints he faced with Fiat during that time.

The 308GT/M is a unicorn. Love these. The name '308' might be inappropriate is I think the only part actually shared with the 308QV is the engine, and only small amounts at that. Without Michelotto the F40 would never exist.

When I had 308 GT/M #001, I took a kid for a spin around the industrial complex. He shot a short video that does a decent job of capturing the sound of these fantastic cars.

Kugelfischer injection, lighter crankshaft, new high lift camshafts, high compression pistons, a free flow exhaust and a lot of money... ;)

Love that sound. That lift off 'whine' sounds exactly like the F1 and GT racers (Lola T70's etc) of the 1970's. Superb.

My Group 4 car sounds like that. There is also a lot of whine in the cabin. It’s neat.

OZ was a pretty young company at the time. They might have made a couple sets of these one-off. I did find a set called the Fuuzula listed on Ebay in Japan but they look a little more developed and forged or cast with some rounded edges.

You must have owned that car when it made an appearance on Bitchin Rides on Discovery, right?

    Cheers!

I remember seeing one of these cars race at an foc event at the Goodyear test track in Luxembourg, it won easily.

I don't know, it sounds off to me...like it doesn't have all the cylinders it should and seems low on power or something? ;)

I have a note that the mock up that was at Autospeak in Modena years ago has been converted into a real car. I've called it #004 in my database, but does anyone know the actual chassis number?

I should've looked more carefully in my database: according to F-Chatter MB Paki the mock up has indeed been converted into a real car in Turin and using chassis number 004!
