Does Jim even visit this website anymore? (FC) He used to be pretty active, long long ago... https://sportscar365.com/lemans/wec/glickenhaus-lineup-confirmed-in-37-car-sebring-entry/
Banned or what? He had inside info indeed. He was a jerk sometimes, but what else could be expected from someone who made such bad films.
I followed JG for the initial P4 build and then the competizione - Was fascinating and thought it so cool he actually posted mirror configurations and asked for FChat feedback/opinions- I believe he even met up with some FChatters at Amelia and Nurburgring 24 and was super cool- The fact he drives/drove his one-off P4 around Manhattan made him badass to me- an ive used some of his leadership quotes/principles to success- such as <loose quote> "I have an objective- then I surround myself with passionate talented people- then I get the **** our of their way"
And that quote ties directly to what I said in the 'failed business' thread about the toy guy that lost a billion dollars.... You hire people that can innovate, and let them work...
And also driving his Le Mans P2-finishing GT40 around New York! He was always generous with his time, whether on the forum or in person, and it didn't matter who you were. Nobody's perfect, but he's legit passionate about Ferrari, and he has made a lot of amazing things happen that few, if any, could (even if they had the depth of pocket). He added a lot to Fchat for sure over the years and it's a loss that he's no longer here. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jim was always nice to me the few times I spoke to him. Got a blind invite from him to N24 out of with a friend if I wanted to, but couldn't make it. Still kick myself for not taking him up on that offer! do you have a link to that thread? Would love to read it.
I met him at the Americana Manhasset Car Shows and he was always a gentleman, willing to spend time to discuss his cars.
What if there’s nothing bad to say about any one of his cars ? OTOH, just as an experiment, say something bad about anyones car(s).
I met Jim once very nice guy. I think he just finished the P4 and was showing it at the Quail Motorsport gathering I think many years ago no. I thought it was the greatest car. Strange how Jim spent a lot of time talking to me and trying to convince me how correct the car was and it was real. You didn't need to convince me of anything but afterwards I had to wonder?
He nade money in the Market, his sister still makes money in the Market and yes, his dad was a run er on the Trading Floor in the crash of 1932. He made money on his films, helped Miles Davis out of the crashed Miura, in NYC and wentt to Lemans at 19, with a note from Mr. Chinetti. Who had met Jim on his bicycle, looking in the showroom glass IMO he's atually the modern version of Briggs Cunningham, and I've told him that a few times! I too was invited to "go to Lemans" as he feels that's "playing Chinetii forward" Who else would put WILLIAMH on his car in Miami, before he collapsed, dead. There's a lot of ststic here now, but Mr. J is on FB, IG and his own Team Media management platform I sent them a potential sponsor the other day, as "I'm good" with Goodyear Tires, Royal Purple lubricants, and Saint Arnold's beer. I do run the Shell product line with Black Magic and RainX This was a BIG sponsor, like you can sometimes run across in a River Oaks honky tonk, if you can dance.... Mr G responds to my FB posts, usualy in seconds, he has a fast computer. Fast cars too. He's now "too busy" in retirement, he's building his legacy and his son is helping. I sent my resume if he needs me. He's alos challenged Elon Musk to "Meet me in Baja" at this point he has three maybe four different Class Entries there.
My reiatves tell me I'd get &*^(*^ed more if I was nore aggresive, socially.....ABC lol! Three times a day is enough..... Mr G can quote you to the square foot, what your logo on his car is worth in eyeballs...that's simply knowing your product....
I have enjoyed his published books, and at one point, my name was on the sill plate of the race car, as it was an "alpha sort" by first name, I was HUGELY flattered to fall in between Dr. Alan Ruud, and then me, and then his daughter in law, Amanda. So there's a huge "ride along" factor in his naturral personality. He's also very soft spoken and exacting in his tone of voice, which will take you far as a leader of men (or women)...he's big on bring diversoty to racing, and they are in ggeneral a fum group to spend 24 hours with (which I have)... Ironically my daughter is Amanda, as well......... "One off" is in some folks opinion correct, but he's actually under the VIN of the "only one made" P3/4 model.. The other cars were either Factory built P4s, of Factory built customer cars, 412Ps.....
Was that his P3/4? He also owns a very original 412P purchased from McCaw. Both have been on the lawn as well as the 512S Modulo The fact that parts swap between the two chassis DOES tell you something...... So well alot of have a "Mr. G story" much like him you try to be exact inn detail and not just paint an overly broad brush.
never, although there were a few talks/warnings over the years about his legal threats towards anyone who disagreed or his borderline spamming. he honestly used FerrariChat because it was his only voice in the Ferrari world as the major events and other publications did censor him. then he found Facebook plus the tides turned against him on FerrariChat, I don't blame him for sticking to Facebook. A larger audience and a less knowledgable audience.
That seems an acute description of Jim Glickenhaus. Both American entrepreneurs, Cunningham and Glickenhaus share the passion for motor racing and a strong individuality.
Yachting as well... Cunningham defended the America's Cup in sailing. Glick owns one of the first Cigarette 38', named the Manhattan Express And then THAT takes you directly to Don Aranow. How much time do you have!!! But the inside joke at 24H COTA was I immedaitely put the SCG shields on my Cadillac CTS, fenders and keep asking: "Do you need anything from town?" He "got it" as the Transporter coud have gone to the moon and had every nut and bolt they needed. It was funny to see them dumping the unused race fuel into the Rental Cars. You get rich, being frugal...
wow. I just stumbled across this thread looking for Sebring stuff. ....... I see the '0846' haters haven't found it yet. ...... just a matter of time. here's a general SCG thread for those interested: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/148953808/ SCG Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ScuderiaCameronGlickenhaus https://glickenhausracing.com/scg-004 .
