    Hey all,

Looking to buy a nice copy of K&F.

From what I've read it's a worthwhile purchase and a great read.

From my research I understand that there were three versions produced.

First special edition - Red leather 200 copies

First standard edition - Grey dust cover 1,000 copies

Second standard edition - Red dust cover 1,000 copies

I don't think I need the red leather version so just interested in any differences between the first two standard (non leather) editions in terms of content and values.

I usually tend to track down first editions but just wondering if that rule applies in the case of this book too.

Any thoughts or feedback much appreciated, thanks.

Content is the same in all versions. After selling out the 'limited edition' of 200+1000, the now defunct publisher 'Automobilia' thought it had the right to make a few more pennies by printing another 1000 'limited' copies, but with a red dust cover. Times change, behaviour doesn't! But it's a nice item to have.

I have a crisp, unread example of the Red Cover Its #1560

I guess I will read it before sending, as the content is as noted here, the same.
Do you see any other versions for sale??

    $1,000.00USD?

I do know what I paid, but my library is now too large.

In 1991 you felt you were recapping the life career of very interesting personality, that Enzo himself seemed to love!
Now you are simply making Peter Sachs richer...as he purchased the guy's life work.

You can pay more if you like the baby needs new shoes......

There's a least FIVE Editions of "Piloti che Gente", but IMO the expanded andd special printing by Cartoer is the best.

In 1992 Ecurie Francorchamps existed 40 years.
Brussels isn't far from where I live so I visited the manifestation during three days.

The first day I remarked that a lot of well known people were there so the second and third day I took my expensive Klemantaski book with me.
    People who signed my book:

    Klemantaski himself
    Luigi Chinetti sr. 2 times
    Luigi Chinetti jr.
    Maurice Trintignant
    Jacques Swaters
    Sergio Scaglietti
    Olivier Gendebien
    Pierre Noblet
    Paul Frère
    Phill Hill
    David Piper
    Mauro Forghieri

The autograph of Gendebien is a very special story.
He suffered from Parkinson's desease and dared not to sign, afraid to damage the book.
It was the second time we had a long talk and so I could persuade him to sign the book.
He took the pen in his fist (!!!) and with much problems he took the risk.
Three pages further you can still feel this signature.......

    What a treasure, well done.

I'd love to see a photo of the signed book if possible.

Also just check that it's book #1,560 if they only made 1,000 maximum copies of the two non leather versions.

    Two of them.

Of course the cover of the book suffered a little bit from being with me during two days.
But with all these autographs (Luigi jr., David Piper and Mauro Forghieri are still alive only) the damage means really nothing.
I didn't mention another signature. I think it is from Villoresi but I'm not sure.

Nice to have a book number with a Ferrari connection too- an amazing treasure.

I'm sure you now know that if you're taking a book around with you to get signed for the day, leave the dustcover off and just carry it around in a fabric book bag/ backpack or even a plastic shopping bag and it will stay nice and clean.

That's what I do and it's never an issue.

Villoresi's signature is distinctive, so it should be easy for you to identify if that is who signed it.

Yes, of course I had to leave the dustcover off. I know now............
Because of the value of the book, I was very cautious with it. The damages were therefor minor ones.

The other one is still a question mark!!!
