So mclaren with no one to do their car until january. They're in for a world of pain. If I was norris I'd rush to Toto's home and sell my soul.
His contract and situation just imploded. I feel for him. Fast and buried deep in a team that is walking blind and backward.
Is Zak next??? Top technicals replaced - probably time for management to reset!! Zak leadership has failed Norris shopping for a new seat?? At least he has Piastri there to share contract issue stories! Piastri should fire Mark Webber - His manager lol - Alpine looking like the place he should have stayed
McLaren lands senior Aston F1 aerodynamicist amid aggressive recruitment push McLaren has landed senior Aston Martin aerodynamicist Mariano Alperin as part of an aggressive recruitment drive to boost the performance of its Formula 1 team.
The question is whether this is any sort of path for long term success. This may be too cynical by half, but when the not-yet-Aston was a pink copy of the Mercedes, they managed to develop the car backwards (or, rather, not develop the car and fall back in the pack). I suspect something similar will happen this year as they copied off Red Bull's homework.
Possibly but they have hired what are considered good people in the design/aero departments. Alot of teams will be adopting this 'RedBull' approach. Its clearly the best so far for the given rules.
I hope you're right, as I do like McLaren. But, pending the salutary effects of my post-lunch espresso, I worry.
Norris might see how Ricci's life was at times ............. Norris 'not driving at the level I want' with difficult McLaren F1 car Lando Norris has admitted he hasn't been driving at his best level after an erratic qualifying for Formula 1's Australian Grand Prix, although McLaren says he's not overdriving the car.
I've got a casual interest in F1 so please understand that I'm a bit of an outsider. I lost a lot of interest when Michael Schumacher retired. Anyway, over the weekend I was looking at the results from the last few years and I'm curious why Zak Brown is still employed at McLaren. He's done very very little with the drivers he's had. Anyone know why he hasn't been canned?
I have no idea, but ONE win (in > 100 races) since he took the job in 2018 seems like a poor bullet point on a CV. And that driver was shown the door. Mattia Binotto had more success (and in less time) and we know what happened to him. Maybe he's looking for a new job?
Zak Brown has done great things with McLaren if you ask me. Look how bad that team was 2014-2017. 4th in 2019, 3rd in 2020, 4th in 2021. That's a hell of a turn around Signs Lando to a relatively long term contract. Signs Ricciardo who was a huge name and came with a ton of results. Who ever saw that one being a flop? Signs the overhyped Piastri despite the legal disputes with Alpine. So he won that battle. Brings in Google as a sponsor, along with many other sponsors Their Indy Car team is a race winning team and could fight for a championship. People going to call for his head because of how bad the F1 team is after 3 races?
McLaren's fortune has been linked to its engine suppliers, IMO. The partnership with Honda was decided before Zak Brown came in and was a disaster. The association with Renault was a stop gap solution. Now, being a Mercedes customer Brown has to rebuild McLaren as a fighting force, that's not easy.
