You shoulda seen it when it was 'doctored', I had pics from the Tassie run but don't now as I lost my camera with the SD card :( weird looking.
Pretty much what Greg says, the return to standard would have cost a motza to recoup, depends how greedy he is.

Never going to happen IMO, these OHOS are by and large owned by people that are financially secure. The question you need to ask yourself is if you have the means to buy one, why wait to save a few bucks. When you’re dead, it’s for a long time….

Indeed. Most of these vehicles are quite tightly held. The other issue is there are no more cars in circulation you could deem a classic. However even allowing for a media beat up interest rate downturn of which we are currently experiencing, there are enough people with money to throw around due to there being many more cashed up buyers than just 10 years ago.

Not too many members here disposing of assets via a fire sale that I can see.....

Don't know if you remember but in an OLD SCW that featured Ferrari there was a story on a 275 owned by Arnold Glas who owned Capitol Motors and at the very end of the story it stated the car was for sale for $9k with him hoping to get $8k or something equally sad ....... I could have bought that car for the cost of my last service !!!

That is all they were worth.
I can remember my father in 1973 about to buy the 275GTB/4 that the technical book store guy bought.

Driving it around Albert park at night and it picked up two gears at speed!

    12k was the price .

I think that's more of a commentary on the stupid running costs of 355's, engine out services, tinfoil exhaust, valve guides that last 5 minutes, etc, etc.

A good car to buy new and flip at 40,000kms.

Old saying regarding Ferrari cars,1st owner thrashes it then it becomes someone else's issue after the warranty period ends.

I only feel sorry for guys with Testarossas and BB512s, luckily PP had the valve guides done and I put a Fabspeed iconel exhaust in ....... but you can never fix the engine out service every five years

Yeah. I'm sure those OHOS V12 are cheap as chips to run...

All of those issues Ian mentioned are a "fix once properly and forget" proposition, and the valve guide non-issue only ever affected the earliest cars.

The engine out service? Yeah it's a PITA but big friggin deal.
I did three of them and they were all between 6 and 9k, with the 9k one including a lot of extra work that was only done because I wanted to do it while the engine was out. Divide that by once every four or five years and whoop-de-do.

If you can't afford that sort of outlay you can't afford a Ferrari.
