Although this thread is long, the answer is in here multiple times. Short version:

    1) Euro cars are more prone to being higher mileage and parked outside more frequently (need more TLC to get them "up to standard")
    2) People don't want the hassle of the legwork necessary to inspect and ship a Euro car.
    3) There was a point in the last two years that the Euro market pricing lagged the US market where it made it worth it to buy Euro, but those days are gone.

I'm sure others may have different commentary.

I did buy this car off BaT and then sold it here on fchat. Sadly, I’m not the one making a profit on it! It is a very solid car, or was when I owned it and it was cared for by YelCab. The car had been painted by a prior owner rams to a high standard. I love 355s but decided I didn’t want the car in Rosso Corsa which is why I sold it. Now have a ‘95 in Rosso Barchetta.

Tough call. Between the clouds/lighting and possible filters the photographer used.

The other thing is I could not find it in the listing...whenever it is a red other than rossa corsa, it is always de emphasized in the listing.

On my screen looks Rosso Corsa. The pics are indoors, so it has a little less pop.

Mine is barchetta, not close to this color.

That looks like a really clean car!

HA! Not at all. But I think there are multiple examples posted in this thread alone of comparable cars that are asking less via retail sites. Don't hate me for countering the "pump and dump" narrative that so many F-chatters use on BaT. Tarek has sold lots of cars there without all the overhyping.

For this particular listing, who’s doing to over-hyping? This car was hardly discussed here and any of the comments in the peanut gallery before the auction ended hardly displayed any overhyping. No overhyping by the seller either. What did I miss?

Considering the recent history of Euros on BAT I think that car did very well at $185k.

That was a general statement about BaT and not specific to that listing. Maybe it would have hit $200k if the peanut gallery had chimed in?

Most of the other euro BAT cars had 10-20k more miles.

No, I’m saying the price seems fair considering what the other euro cars with higher mileage and worse condition received.

OK. The only comp I saw was the Dutch one with 47,000km that sold for $140,500. $45,000 more for a car already in the USA seemed reasonable. I think we're in agreement on this one. :)

Of course, I'm waiting to see what the spider does. Look nice but the black leather on the doors looks weird, like there was mold on it.

The Dutch GTS also had a full paint job, no title, was not recently serviced (current GTS was serviced 11/22) and is a 1999 MY, which means not eligible for current importation and it still got $145k.

    Did I miss anything else?

But of course, if a manual GTS isn’t selling for $125k, @Wsmatau will claim, “overhyped!” :)

Not a fair assessment. And you are conflating the value of a 355 with my dislike for BaT hype. My comment was trying to highlight to the BaT community that many bidders seem to only look on BaT for cars (or they have the best cars available) and therefore should command the premium that auction house currently does.

Where are the better and cheaper comparable examples not currently on BAT? You don’t think 3 bidders looked around the market (within reason) before bidding?

Where are the “several nicer comparables on open market” as you posted on BaT?

When asked you couldn’t pull up any. So to me it seems like an attempt to downplay the market in an attempt to bring down market prices by making BaT bidders feel like they made a poor choice because there are better comparables cheaper elsewhere, but the truth is there really isn’t. You might find 1 car, but I bet it’s yellow.
