Negligible ? I will be very surprised to know how many Gtb "retrofitted" got the Hgte seats embroidered even if you could order an Hgte with, let's say Daytona seats or the white counter background, even if you also could order an Hgte with a yellow or red background and some carbon parts but easier to change.

That is our point, you can get 99% BUT you need to start with a pretty heavily optioned car AND it wasn't cheap. Lumping all retrofit HGTE as being very inferior is misleading, just as saying all retrofit HGTE are equivalent. For the retrofit HGTE there is a lot of variability on what people did and/or didn't do so the buyer has to know and do their due diligence.

“so the buyer has to know and do their due diligence.” Yes, that’s why I said it’s negligible. Small differences. That’s the nice thing about Ferraris versus VW group, is the variances.

Is it just me or do other people think the HGTE wheels look better than GTO wheels?

I agree. However, I had a pothole dent one and getting it repaired was a pain. If anyone wants a good shop, proformance industries in New York is fantastic.

Now I have clones on, OZ racing ritto rossos or something like that. Image Unavailable, Please Login

I agree. And I like the early wheels better than the later wheels. The spokes were thinner.

I don’t like on the clones how the spoke inset is darker. Maybe I’ll fix that one day. My 599 has carbon fiber badges so maybe it will match well.

George- Sorry, but have to agree with Xavier. I really like the GTO wheels, especially since they are wider all around.

I'm way into the wider part and the fact that they're cheaper than the HGTE wheels. Plus I much prefer the first series with the thinner spokes. Maybe in silver.
The other thing I don't understand is if the HGTE front wheel is a half inch wider than the challenge wheel, why doesn't the tire width increase on the HGTE front tire?

George- OEM 599 front tires fit fine on the 1/2" wider front wheel and that and the larger rear anti-roll bar lessened understeer enough that they did not need larger tires. Made it simpler on the assembly line, too, since all 599 GTBs with 20" wheels used the same size tires.

quick note: my 599 was dealer retrofitted with full HGTE kit and was closer to $45k [welcome to California pricing]. Luckily I didn't shell out the cash for that or the imbedded active/passive radar system. Also, hate the retrofitted stereo system but ok when needed.

Advertised prices between 800k and 1.1M (and even more) Euros are a joke. The dealers who advertise such prices are completely stupid since no car has been sold for these prices at auction. Moreover, contrary to what many think, they were not "only" 499 cars delivered but in fact more than 890 cars. Both owners and dealers try to sell at the highest price but the buyers are not all pigeons. For example, there are 2 idiots in Europe; 2 idiots who announce their GTO at a super high price and since they don't sell, they artificially increase the price to make potential buyers believe that the market is going up... We have to stop being fooled by these people who fake the prices on the market.

For me, it's the right price actually:

End of 2021, when i searched an 812 SF, i also watched for GTOs.
At that time, prices began a little bit over 500.000 € for European cars.

The interesting lower milage examples were in the 600.000 € range, which was over my budget.

First half of 2022, the GTO prices and also the quantity of offered cars raised very quick.
But like @Sturm59 said, there is no movement in the European GTO market, the cars are the same like in beginning of 2022, some more came into the market, only the prices raised.

Correct, there are over 50 GTOs for sale worldwide (only 30 in 2021) and almost none are selling. Sellers are dreaming but in my opinion buyers are much more realistic. 600k€ is already the double from the original price, it's already fabulous for a car that is only 12 years old and almost 900 units delivered. In 2022, prices rose artificially for no reason. I see that the prices are slowly coming down in 2023. Let's see in 2024... Same case with the 430 Scuderia.....

The recent US auctions would indicate that US prices are increasing and I would say overall the world wide pricing is increasing but as you say the current asking prices are somewhat high.

@Ferrari 360 CS Yes, prices are rising, it's true and it's normal. But when you see a car with 20,000 km at the same price as another with 2,000 km, it's nonsense, especially for this type of car. Regarding a 250 GTO, the mileage is only superfluous, but we are not talking about a 60 years old car and this case is quite special.... The history is also very important. And some cars don't have one or history is very troubled...

I think millage will become less of an issue because premiums for low millage cars make little sense to me, in many cases the premium is disproportionate.

The seller can ask for an exuberant premium, it's his right, but if no one buys, he will keep his car. Today the majority of GTO's are advertised around 800K (and none have been sold for many months) but I've seen some at 1.2M and even 1.5M, it's completely stupid. The 599 GTO is not a rare car contrary to what many people think (see the other post)

For me, a car that has sold close to 900 units is not rare. Considering that there were 3600x 599 produced, that makes 1 GTO for 3 GTB or 25% of production.

Take the example of the 430 Scuderia. There were approximately 8,000 F430 coupés and approximately 2,000 Scuderia, i.e. 10,000 coupé cars in total. The Scuderia therefore represents 20% of the production of coupés or 1 Scuderia for 5 F430 coupé. In terms of proportion to the quantity produced, the Scuderia would therefore be rarer than the GTO. But has it seen its value doubled or even tripled? I do not think so....

@nads What is your definition of rare?
