I don't have an axle to grind, but that was a pathetic effort, guys. The clutch and throwout bearing are ready. I've ordered exhaust gaskets and transaxle oil change kit (basically two copper washers and an o-ring) from a USA supplier, and a pile of bolts, seals, and a spigot bearing from Eurospares. Got creamed on shipping, but still a lot cheaper than from the local dealer. Funnily enough, the engine oil change kit is cheaper from the dealer here, so I'm getting those bits from there. Gizzi's found a couple of O2 sensors for a fraction of the price of the OEM ones. I've also repaired the faulty indicator ($5,000 OEM). So I've got to go to Brissy to pick up the clutch, to Aston Martin for the oil change kit, and then wait for two parcels. Then I have to remember how to put Humpty back together again .
Overall, I should have the whole job done for about $10K less than the quote. How's that for low-balling? :D

Can't remember exactly what I paid for the new clutch on the 355, but pretty sure it was less than 5k.

I did a new clutch when the pumpkin bearing seized, the bearing was $1000 (unique apparently ?) and the clutch/pressure plate circa $2500 from Superformance about 6-7 years ago

Only changed the clutch because I was pulling the back end apart, quite simple really

BTW I've been calling Marc for a few days with no reply , is he away ?
