I'll start by saying I fully understand the wear readings are of questionable accuracy and usefulness, but anyway... My car (CS) was serviced in October and I was told it had 27% wear on the clutch. Since it was serviced the car has sat in my garage apart from about 2miles up and down the road here in January. I then drove it about 15 miles to a different shop to have some other bits done last week. Today this shop has told me the clutch is approx 70% worn. Both these are highly respected Ferrari specialists, so they can't both be wrong... But I doubt I've done almost 50% of a clutch in less than 20 miles of gentle driving, so one of them must be wrong. Logic tells me one of the shops has mis-read the wear reading and, instead of it being 27% worn it's actually got 27% left. Or the other shop's done the same thing and it's really got 70% left... So two questions: 1. Is the figure the computer gives you a 'worn' or a 'remaining' value? 2. What's the easiest (cheapest) way I can read it myself and check the values with my own eyes? I already have OBD2 stuff for the car but nothing Ferrari specific and don't really fancy buying an X431 just yet. Although maybe I'll have to when I end up working on the car myself(!) Thanks
The computer shows "worn" .. It is only as good as the number that is stored in the TCU ( inputted at clutch change) - Clutch position from new - if this was entered wrong you will not have any good data An old AP200 ( white) by autel or the thinkdiag 1 or 2 are good choices for you Have someone look at the clutch thru bottom panel .. if grooves are gone you are at 70 + percent worn

Yeah, I understand the limitation on the reading only being as good as the data put in when it was replaced and calibrated but I just wanted to see the actual value for myself. I'll ask if they can take some photos through the bottom while they've got the car in the air - good idea.

I don’t actually have an invoice for one. The car’s only done about 17,000 miles so it could be original… But I doubt it.
Get this tool. It's great. For me, it does whatever the X431 launch does, including bleeding the clutch, setting the PIS, check and delete all error codes, read live data (including clutch wear) , etc. I would say the AP200 is also good, but seeing the price has gone up to almost 70 bucks, and this is 119, it's a no brainer. Nice, thanks. I have read that these thinkdiag things don't work so well with iPhones and Android is a better choice. Is this true? Does anyone use one with an iPhone and a 360, CS or 430?
My car has lived in Milan and London during its life so it's probably had a lot of first-gear takeoffs in those 17,000 miles! Anyway I picked it up from the shop earlier and the car feels superb, so no plans to replace the clutch any time soon. I'd still like to be able to read these values myself though, so thanks again for the advice.
Although I mentioned the old ap200 , the thinkdiag 1 or 2 in post #2 ..after seeing what you need and how you were going to use it ..the AP200 for 58 dollars on amazon right now is a good choice. I have not used the Thinkdiag on iphone (but I can test) , only on my Android phone. I did use the Ap200 on my ipad though, so it works on iphones too I guess.
I have both an AP200 and the ThinkDiag with my iPhone. Since getting the ThinkDiag I don’t use the AP200. The ThinkDiag is bidirectional but the AP200 isn’t. Big difference when you need to do more than just read the clutch data or reset a CEL. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app

I read that, and you are right, it supposed not to expire. I just found mine last year asking for renewal all of a sudden, just sayin... I complained to them and never got a reply back But if I was to pay for it again, I won't, I'd rather pay for the Thinkdiag, much more useful.
I think the 1st brand you register with Autel doesn't expire, but any others do. My Ferrari one works, but my Porsche one I added later on expired.
