    I think in the chaos of that lap though,penalties should have gone out the window given that the next restart was going back to the start of that lap.

    What I cannot understand is, they were going to race for two laps, right?

    They decided that lap didn’t count as the red flag came out before they finished the first sector.
    So, if that lap doesn’t count, surely they still have two to go.
    ie. one formation lap and then race for one more lap.

    The lap either counts or it doesn’t.

    Farcical finish.
