Point 1 - RedBull have no reason to show 100% race pace ever in the race. They are not in a serious challenge so save the wear on the PU's needed for more races. NO different than other teams in the past - Savvy!

Perez - is not as close to Max as Bottas seemed to LH. He might get renewed if things dont blow up later lol. He's doing whats needed to gain WCC title.

Not sure why Max is not happy. Im glad he is serious but life is short, no one is a threat and you drive in circles. Enjoy it - it does not last

I have no idea what Ferrari are doing. The less I read what Charles and others say the better. Maybe they will improve.

Mercedes were a touch lucky. Circuit temps, tires and surface worked for them and they kept the operational window in view with respect to the car and set up. George must be concerned now as he is down a PU. Maybe some affect later if another goes bad.

Aston with FA at the wheel are impressive.

Not sure what Alpine are doing but pink carbon fibre is hard to find. Late nights for the painter I guess lol

Max pulled 2.5 seconds on Lewis in 1 sector with the DRS open. Max is good. But that car is unreal. That car has so much extra pace. Once they gets the starts sorted it's game over.

 

Yep.....especially in DRS mode. It's not a 10 to 12mph advantage.....it's more than that.

Alright, I have the perfect idea. I have voiced my disgust multiple times about the horrendous wheels in current F1 cars.
This is the perfect example. If you see the wheels in Magnussen's car, you can see the big difference. Do you want
the nice looking wheel at the back or do you prefer that rental car's abomination up front?

So if the reason for those horrible covers is to avoid performance through the wheel to act of aero help, why can't we
add some transparent mica just to block it? I'm sure one can find a stronger type and not heavier than those metallic ones.

Can we file a petition or something?

Just finished the race…. Why penalize Sainz if Alonso gets a redo, not suffering from being punted!?

If Alonso can get a Time Machine so should everyone!

 

Bring back Masi, he likes a proper race, yesterday's fiasco was no race

 

Like I said, Ocon's a pig, Gasly is twice the driver he is, Danny Ric wiped the floor with him (Dan should have stayed with Alpine)

The good news: My inverter let me watch the whole race, even with town power out for maintenance.
The bad news: I shouldn't have bothered.

FIA still following RULE 1: Screw over the Ferraris.

First red flag: Shaft the people who already pitted. Freebie for everyone else.
"But sweepers!"
So give your track workers a broom and leave the machines in the barn.

Lap 57 red flag: Let's have a standing start with new tires, to completely change the race results (stretch old tires) to "let there be chaos!"

Last red flag: Were they collecting payola bids during that long period to decide to dismiss the GPS data?

5 sec penalty for Sainz?
He did a great job making up for getting screwed by the first red flag.
Then they screwed him again.

The point to a penalty is so that you get a penalty if you screw up someone else's race.
There were a few other similar collisions the stewards wrote off as "no further investigation".
But they didn't involve red cars.

They gave Alonso his position back, so nothing lost -- but a penalty anyway ....
.... for a "lap" the stewards effectively erased.
No harm, just foul.

Charles gets run off the track and beached: no penalty.
Alonso gets spun, but gets put back where he was. Penalize the Ferrari!


Why run a race if the stewards are going to arbitrarily assign the finishing order?

I’m just hoping Ferrari edges ahead of Mercedes by the end of the season.

Btw, I also don’t see why teams are allowed to change tires during a red flag. Makes zero sense to me. It adds an absolutely unnecessary element of luck / randomness.

And the penalty against Sainz was BS. The stewards endangered the drivers by inserting the unnecessary free-for-all restart at the end. There were accidents (again, unnecessary). And the stewards shifted blame to Sainz.

 

+1. I have been against this rule for so long. It should be like parc fermé -- if you have some damage, you have to demonstrate it and then you can change it,
but no performance changes, i.e. tires, adjustment on wings. If your setup is wrong, need other tires, you have to do all that in a regular pitstop.

 

Those gaps need to be there for safety. The issue was security related.

It makes sense when we have changing weather conditions (cars are on slicks and it starts raining) but I'd guess the rule was created back in the day when there was only 1 slick tyre available.

It's the same for all of course...but I feel for this guy. Such a distance only for charles to last just 3 corners.

 

Same thing happened to my wife. The only GP we've ever been to was Silverstone 2014. She was looking forward to seeing Kimi, Ferrari's last world champion, actually race. Unfortunately, he didn't even make it far enough around lap 1 to reach our grandstand.
