I went for a very long time without hearing from him 4-6 months. Then I started leaving messages at his other phone numbers asking where I could serve him legal process. Shortly thereafter I got a cryptic email asking for my shipping address. Then a second email asking for a certified check which I mailed him. Then he shipped the shocks.

    Here is his linkedin profile.

I sent him an email yesterday. I do know this is not his full time gig. He does consulting work etc... as well. Yes, better communication with customers would be ideal, but I never had a communication problem with him up until I didn't get a response from my email sent 10/22. I've been busy myself, so I didn't press. I just assumed he missed it. Rob does great work and hopefully this is just a hiccup.

I ended up filing a police report. Officer went there yesterday and all of the sudden today he has offered me a refund and to send my shocks back. We will see if he follows through.

It is unfortunate that it had to come down to this. He has given me invaluable suspension advice for my 355. I’d gladly take a haircut on that $3500 for the advice alone, but I’d rather have him rebuild my dampers if possible.

I've paid $3500 in storage costs for a $2000 rebuild project. He may be good, but with zero communication I'm done playing this game.

I will never understand people like this. He has skills, he has knowledge, he has wisdom, and he wrecks a good business. Why?

I've been in business 38 years. It is hard work. I can't tell you the number of people I personally know, more talented than I, completely self-destruct.

You never know what it could be. A difficult personal issue? Health issue? But the lack of an explanation is troubling.

He's located not far from my summer house. I had considered bringing the car there for the summer and having him work on the shocks. But probably not now.

Let us know if you ever get an explanation.

There is a Bilstein in San Diego, CA as well. I might end up having to send dampers there and worry about getting funds back from Rob later. It is unfortunate as Rob seemed to have propriety techniques to keep them from leaking. My car has 30k mi and 3 corners have leaks. I just want to deal with this once.

    Any other reputable Bilstein rebuilders?

For whatever it’s worth, I never saw this thread. If it were in Ferrari Discussion section, I definitely would have read it.

The other option is to go with KW V3 coillovers like I did. The improvement in all areas is astonishing but you need to source top mounts for a 1st gen 575 to make it work because it was designed on that model.
