Previous 458 Spider owner, who went to the dark side (Lambo Evo RWD), now returning and wants to buy Black 458 Spider with suspension lift… also, must be CPO…

As of today, 21 458 Spiders on Ferrari CPO website, but only ONE is black with a lift, a ‘12 with 26,758 miles…

To find a newer model year, with less mileage, I could look to private party sales, but that would mean no CPO warranty…

So, I was thinking- would it be possible to find a private seller with the car spec I wanted and have that person sell the car to a dealer with me verifying my intent to the dealer to purchase the car… of course, there would need to be a pre-warranty inspection which I would pay for as well as the cost for the warranty itself… I had a CPO 458 before and thought the peace of mind of a warranty was well worth the price…

Can't you just buy the Power15 Warranty from Ferrari regardless? I don't think you need to go through that strange process, which would be very expensive for you if anyone would even be willing to do it.

Don’t forget the dealer will juice the deal as well.

Being tall with long legs, unable to fit into Evo convertible- seat back travel was less than coupe… missed top down driving… of course, many many differences between Ferrari & Lambo, but both exhilarating to drive…

My understanding is you can take the car to a dealer and they will do an inspection to see if it qualifies for CPO status, and thus qualifying it for New Power that you can purchase.

Worry would be that you would pay for inspection, then any aspect of it that fails inspection, and then for the NPW as well. Potentially pricey.

If you buy a CPO car from the dealer you get the 2 year power warranty for the price of 1 year. If you go through the process of running the deal from a private party through a dearer, it would probably not be worth it as they would charge you for the transaction (which they may not even be willing to do). You would be better off just buying the car with a PPI from the dealer and buying the 1 year warranty. The cost is $4,900 + the inspection fee of about $750. However, you can pay $5,300 for the same 1 year power warranty which includes next year's service.

If you find the car with the right specs, and it passes a PPI if you can even find a reliable one, get it. These are 458’s; they aren’t bad cars. And what if something isn’t covered by some warranty; these aren’t really bumper to bumper and they definitely aren’t cheap.

Thanks, yes… spoke to Ferrari Service & they confirmed this as long as there are NO mods and car is stock and can pass the 101 point inspection…
