i believe my statement was in reference to an M. the earlier gta's are the lowest spec in this series. and thats a lot of miles for these
Not so fast, Trebek.... Same car from the bad BaT auction a month ago. I looked at thia one... needed a lot of love and with a clueless owner. Hope he got it cleaned up a bit https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1995-ferrari-456-gt-28/
Interesting ! You are obviously correct, I totally remember that. I never assumed it was the same one. Now we know what the reserve was !
Obviously, there's another GTA M on BaT right now. Not too bad looking. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2002-ferrari-456m-gta-2/ Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I have that one watched too... Was that the one that had been on Ebay for a few months? I think price kept changing between 74-89 over the months. Location is the same in the tampa area
During my search, I had reached out to Hoovie about his (then) Saudi imported 456 when he almost firesaled it. I remember someone else also posted about being in talks to acquire it then too.... Looks like everyone not on Youtube dodged a bullet on this car. Still I love the color
Question - I could have swore I saw a registry or online drive document with all known US 456 vins / options. Appreciate any guidance/link!
As the other guys stated, this car was on BAT and it was as rough as Guts! https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1995-ferrari-456-gt-28/ I initially was keen on tis car until I saw how bad it was!
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2003-ferrari-456m-gta-6/ Strongly considering bidding on this one (maybe others here are too). My concern/ question is the emission’s failure. I live in Wisconsin where we require a passed emissions test every 2 yrs (not smog). I mean this is something a mechanic can diagnose and fix so that the car can pass emissions and the car can be registered correct? I also worry as to why the seller wouldnt fix the issue if its a reasonable fix and open up the bidding pool to many more states/people? Seems odd.
Not being able to pass CA emissions (same as smog) does not mean it cannot pass emissions in other states.
I managed to get mine (2003 GTA) to pass CARB. I had all of the emissions “plumbing” gone over and replaced as necessary (some of it was installed incorrect and/or left loose by a high-end Indy “specialist” after a major - beware) and after all that it took > 500 miles for my secondary AM to reset over the course of 1 month. That seems to be the “bug-a-boo”. Every time you disconnect the battery you have to put MAD miles on it (for me) to get that monitor to reset. My mechanic also passes his 2000 GTA here in CA. Same deal. Fix the rear ashtray, dump that radio, pop off those stickers and put the OE wheels back on, and that BAT car checks a LOT of boxes. I could not believe how SMOOTH that idle was. I imagine you could sort it for under $20k, add the MSW ECU and win all day long.
This! What does YOUR state require? No where outside of Cali do you generally ever hear cars are unable to be registered due to inspections for otherwise healthy cars. Mirek is probably the best source for passing California emissions and everything associated with those systems.
