The UK police check for live insurance on the ASKMID system, I imagine the US insurance would not be listed as a result. No front plate is a small fine, but no proof of insurance and the car will be impounded, which is I believe just the same in the US
The upside of this story based on the images is, there's at least one man on the planet driving his F40 extensively in the rain!
I think it only checks against the UK database (even before brexit). Proof of insurance still has to be done with paper work on foreign cars. British "news" papers have this weird obsession for expensive cars being towed. Gives them a bit of satisfaction and of course with the silly ''no insurance'' headline really gets them moist. It's expecially common with UAE registered cars, as their system can't really check against Arabic writing throwing all sorts of faults in the system...Tabloids then make up their most satisfying story as they go along. Makes them happy on their way home with the bus I guess, sitting on strangely wet seats.
Notorious F-head Rod Stewart driving a US-Spec F40 Date & Location : Unknown Picture credits : Unavailable I'm sure Joe will provide a few more informations about that very car Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes. The location is Beverly Hills, the car is a 1990 Ferrari F40 chassis number 86746 owned by Stewart from 1990 to 2008.
Magic, thanks. According to the others cars in the scene and Rod's physical apparence, the pic must have been taken in the mid 90's He should have waited another decade to sell it. He would have made one or two more millions

Bargain! Always liked the yellow lights on French spec examples https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10229968308941530&set=gm.10160395122544475&idorvanity=39483944474 Image Unavailable, Please Login
You’re right, it very much looks like the Daverat dealership in the old days. If confirmed, it is probably my F40 (sold brand new by Peio Daverat) and still stored and driven hard by my son and I on the basque coast.
I took away the original exhaust that was reinstalled by the Classiche department (no possible negotiation there) and went again for the ANSA megafono. Difference is night and day, what a pleasure to drive that car!
Ansa F1 Megafonos are essential! Not only is the sound SO much better, because the back-pressure is less, the car comes on the boost a bit quicker so it makes driving it around town more of a pleasure.
Glad to know we might have been phisically close at some point(s) in time... I visit French Pays Basque once or twice a year and always look for Ferrari spots, I have definitely spotted F40s sometimes...
Next time, do not hesitate to send me a PM some time before your visit and I’ll be happy to show you a few nice cars together with very nice twisty roads ! We could also go and visit Peio Daverat.
