Ferrari were P3/P4 after FP2. I'm going to get up for FP3 tomorrow. Haven't heard if there are delays in the schedule. sjd
stuck throttle seems to be the cause. car skipped through gravel trap backwards so it was a bit off the ground, hit top of tire barrier, launched over the fence. kinda reminds me of a crash Patrick Carpentier had in IndyCar years ago. needless to say, they have some work to do on their runoff and catch fencing especially with that being a spectator area (also marshals and photographers)
from this image, you can see trajectory of the car, impact to tire wall, damage to fence. someone correct me if I'm wrong but that doesn't look like FIA Grade 1 circuit catch fencing. Image Unavailable, Please Login
In early 1982 testing at Paul Ricard Pironi crashed at Signes corner at the end of the Mistral straight also ending up in a spectator area that was empty. In a GP there in those years Mass and IIRC Fabi also went over the fence in a coming together but again no bystander was hurt despite that being during the GP. But then there was the Fuji Villeneuve Peterson crash in I think 1977 with a couple of casualties though that was a forbidden area.
