I've searched about removing the center console for a Scud but haven't seen anything that addresses my issue. I need to pull the console to get the hazard and shock buttons out to get the stickies repaired but this retaining post is keeping it held in place in the front. Anyone know how to remove this? The silver object in the photo is a Rivnut and I don't think that is part of what you need to do. It's been a while since I removed mine, but from memory: one M6 fastening underneath the rear most storage tray (the trim piece is stuck down with double sided tape), and *possibly* another underneath the trim piece adjacent to the F1 panel. The F1 panel is to be removed, and the cable tie cut that secures the handbrake lever gaiter. The front of the console is secured by two push in fittings (male part on carbon console and female in the lower part of the console). It takes quite a bit of leverage to separate them - to the degree that I expected the carbon brackets to snap!
Thanks. I got the M6 and screw out but that Rivnut is securing a bracket that is molded into the center console. I'll need to get a camera underneath to see how it's attached because it doesn't feel like a screw head. It almost feels like some kind of butterfly fitting.
I'm now on my desktop and the image is clearer - I see what you mean. I honestly don't remember that. It's going to be a case of putting your camera underneath to determine the fastening type and then working blind to loosen it.
Just to close the loop on this for anyone wanting to remove the center console to get the buttons out, you need to remove both seats, remove the front tunnel cover by taking out the four (two on each side) hex bolts at the bottom and then the six (three on each side) hex bolts holding the main cover. No other way around it due to the rivnut which attaches the carbon fiber top to the leather/alcantara base.

I am going totally disagree with you as I've removed the center console more than once, and never removed anything from the car to do so (seats ???)! The front of the center console has two of the rivnuts, one one each forward corner, and a simple plastic trim removal tool can be inserted where the tunnel meets the fabric, and simply "pop'd" up. I have pics of everything since I self-taught myself how to do this. If there is anything specific, please ask - as other said: -Two "carpet pads" to remove with each having a bolt underneath to remove -A "ziptie" to cut on the parking brake boot -The forward silver metal panel to remove (4 screws) and unplug -Two forward "rivnuts" to pop out of the top of the center tunnel But just to be super duper clear, we're talking about this "rivnut" (and the one to the right which cannot be seen from this image); correct?

Did you just clean those buttons or send them out? If you did clean them, do you know if the mirror control is able to be cleaned easily or does all the black wipe off leaving the white plastic?
Sorry, but I sent them out to Dave in NJ. Those, the dome light cover, and a few other small things. Great results if you are willing to wait.
I think there must be two types because mine doesn't have the Rivnut fixing either - just two ball & socket type clips at the front edge which pop out, and a couple of bolts at the rear.
Exactly. The "rivnuts" are what you can see at the top of the bracket right under the console; the "ball and socket" fitting is what actually "snaps" into the tunnel itself at the bottom end of that bracket.
