    UN-real.
    A so-called "continuation" car..............(hence the "C" on the placard......).
    A.k.a. REPLICA.

That's what I expected, thanks Marcel.

Actually since they pass 30kms from me I will go watch them locally.

Is it not like the Cobra continuations that had real chassis and some real components? If not then total replica. If they authorized a continuation on spare period chassis, then I wouldn't call it a replica.

There are no spare period chassis. Never were.
And for sure the factory did not authorize a continuation.
It is a Roelofs, not a Ferrari.

If that is the genuine 3911 GT, when did it get the outside fuel filler cap?

Thank you Marcell. I was just wondering. As Cobra did it, I think Jaguar did too with the lite weights.

How many "Ferrari" replicas are participating in this week's Tour Auto?
I know of three, right now. Two "250 SWB's" and the "512 M".
    More?
Plus: how about all the converted 308 GTB's?

I guess when owners of original stop bringing their real stuff, they had to improvise to keep the plateau interesting for the general public..

At Goodwood there have been tool room replicas for years and as time passes and values increase there have been copies built for example carlos Monteverde has the real lime green 512M and a tool room replica. The one he crashed quite hard at Brands Hatch.
Lawrence Stroll when he had the Sunoco 512M also had a tool room copy which was destroyed by order of Classiche minus engine and gearbox and any genuine parts when the real car was sold to the current owner.

I will say this: I would rather see a perfectly executed replica race than a real one in a sterile auction.

tomorrow I will be on the side of the road here in Burgundy watching them go by and enjoying the beauty and the sound:)
same at Le Mans Classic or elsewhere, I would rather see those race than nothing.

Marc, I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment. Not that I matter, but when you can experience the sights and the sounds as these cars are, it's really special. And, who can tell a replica when it's going by at 180 mph or so. Many are very well executed too.

Perry thank you we fully agree.

Reposts (from the Le Mans Classic thread elsewhere) but totally valid to prove this point.

Night photos by me at Le Mans Classic last year between the corners of Indianapolis and Arnage....with my cell phone!

In the first photo around 10h30 pm can you tell what the blur on the right is? The Caddilac le Monstre of Briggs cunningham...replica.

Around 3 or 4am in the second photo you see a 250LM looking stunning and howling through the forest like a beast....replica.

Of course we all wish these were real but if you can't have foie gras you eat pate;-)

Very nice. Believe it or not, that first blur does look like Le Monstre. And I wonder if the Cobra Daytona in the second picture is real either. Most enjoyable anyway, if you're not fortunate enough to have been there in period.

I just returned from Goodwood Members’ Meeting weekend. Every year there are many GT40s there, and of course also at Revival. I often wonder how many of them are authentic and how many are from Superformance, et al. They are fast as hell and the racing is always close.
