And without the plate setter gizmo it’s a hot fire! It’s been burning off my knuckle hairs! Burping it has been kinda marginal.

So back with the BGE and hit up the local butcher and got chops. Only have a beginning pic yet they turned out great. Asparagus also. Tasty with a dose of Dukes mayonnaise.

sorry Tom. Just saw this. Duck gone. We drank a mid level Margaux, a 2018 Ch. Siran, which was a nice but not outstanding bottle. Pleasant enough

First night of a month back in Scottsdale…exhausted from 2 days of driving…so picked up grilled chicken and fixings from a very authentic little Mexican market that was down the street from my home here for years…it’s still there.

A&W teen burger (bacon cheeseburger) last night with onion rings and root beer. Heading to the States this afternoon. Sunday, so Chick-Fil-A is closed. Not sure what I'll get. It will be fast food on the road.

Tried something different. Used the same neopolitan crust but instead of 700* on the floor for 2 min went 600* for 5 min. Going lower allows me to get 2+ at the same time. Can’t do that @ 700*+.

Only made 2 as it was just my wife and I. I really liked liked it. But I need to add more honey to the dough for the lower temp to get a little more brown. Mine was a simple margarita no pic.

Sooo happy we got the bigger oven. Unlike the smaller one making a fire was plug & play and forget, compared to 3 hours of baby sitting the small one & needing a fan.

Some healthy eating going on here! [emoji2]

I guess I'll join in. Small town Tex Mex joint. Knew it was going to be good as there were half a dozen duallies in the parking lot when we showed up in the F-450.

It was the weekend, so they had menudo. I think I should have specified that I wanted a cup and not a bowl. Tasty and they didn't skimp on the tripe.

Only two other Italian restaurants in this town and both are expensive and not very good. Was hungry last night and decided I needed a big meal. Had Olive Garden again. Shrimp and chicken carbonara. It was good for what it was.

Expensive and not good is a bad combo. Mix in bad service and you got the trifecta!

Crappy iPhone picture, but it was tasty.

Was at Kroger and they had eye of round steaks in the bargain bin. $5. Challenge accepted!

Used this recipe, reputed to be a favorite of President Gerald Ford.

Not bad for a cheap steak with a side salad and zoodles.

To feed 3 boys and a husband on a budget, mom would whip out her giant cast iron skillet and make a sauté of hot dogs, pepper, potatoes, and onions. In NJ they serve this inside a half round of ‘pizza bread’ and call it an Italian hot dog.

Pesto linguine with Costco rotisserie chicken. Not sure about tonight. Tomorrow is my brothers birthday and I will be buying him Chinese take out for his dinner. I will also get a chocolate cake at Costco.

Judging by the pics here over the months, when @FerrariLily does beef, she does BEEF!

And, I'd say as porterhouse-y as one can get!

(iirc most places in the world don't have two names for that cut...its just a t-bone - some with a giant filet and some not so much)

    Box...Checked.

Scottsdale has gotta be one of the most western places you can find one of these...but I reckon this was a one and done for us...

Direct quote from my wife: "I don't mean to sound difficult, but this is disgusting. What is this meat? It tastes fake."

I imagine this is a drunk or high thing...(Like Tommy's Burgers in LA)

Continuing our "when in civilization" hit list, Indian food was next. In this case, a very, very authentic Southern Indian Veggie-only place where mom and dad do it all, paper plates and a plastic fork complete the theme.

Dosas (masala and paneer), chapati, Uthappam, Sambar, Poori, Bonda, chutneys and Chai.

Not kidding when I say I literally got goosebumps when I tasted the chapati and my mind quite literally drifted back to 40 years ago at my grandfather's place in Bombay as a kid. This is literally like eating my aunties home cooking.

(ironically given my above comment, the one item I didn't get a pic of was the chapati. And i must apologize for the missing hunk of masala dosa...that piece was in my mouth before the plate hit the table, let alone the pic was taken)
