Dear Moderators, How about creating a dedicated channel for us 208 brothers and sisters? (OK there aren't pitchforks and torches out, but it seems like a good idea to me) Sincerely, Fast Ricky
Well they are 98 % identical when it comes to wrenching . The 2% ( if it’s that high? ) is the cylinder liners , pistons and believe crank throw .Plus to be pedantic the gear final drive ratios are lower .But then certain markets the 308 s also have different gearing eg Switzerland have a lower first or other gearing for the hilly bits .Hardly worth another “ channel “ Best to stay in the #08 family all together From the 74 308GT 4 s through our 842 manufactured 208 GT 4 through the Pininfarina bodied 308s / 208 s and 208 turbos to the run out 328 s in 89 . The day to day ailments and fixes are the same , unless you happen to be changing out the liners + pistons or refreshing the final drive cogs . There are so few 208s on here inc the turbo . For those newbies wondering why Ferrari made under 2.0 L modals it was during the 70s the Italian Gov levied a 38 % additional tax on cars over 2.0L .They all are LHD made for the home market consumption. Personally you get to a certain age , and loose interest in outright performance, just wanna tootle along .Mindful of traffic , speed cameras and social acceptability.I use mine in Europe so find the LHD bit useful .Also find the extra low gearing extra useful in Switzerland so it’s a win win . I have had a Testarossa and 360 in my early years so I do get why first Ferrari (or any other sports car guys for that matter )major on 0-60 times at car meets . Relatively its 160 or is it 170 Hp , who cares ? competes with the 46 Hp blue one . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login ^ Mighty 1inch and 1/4 SU s with K+N filters up from stock 1 inch and 1/8 th ….43 to 46 Hp WOW ! I like my quad twin choke 34 Webbers as well in the 208 ….another difference from a 308 , but it’s just dimensions technically they work the same as the 40 s .
"There are so few 208s on here inc the turbo." There was a 208/308 turbo??? I'm always learning something watching these threads
They made 160 normally aspirated 208 GTB s and later added a turbo . Not sure how many turbos were made it was there first turbo btw . “ Albert “ on here has one .Recognised by the NASCA duct in front of the rear wheel = adds more cooling air . More here = https://www.ferrari.com/en-GB/auto/208-gtb-turbo 208 GT4 came in normally aspirated 842 examples, not sure how many survivors left or how many are presently outside Italy . Any outside Italy they were exported , more like imported by the owners to where ever .All LHD obviously.
