I have seen several 1/43 models of later model (F8, Portofino, etc.) Ferraris that come in a black box which also includes photos of the real car in production, as well as a plate with the last 7 digits of the VIN on eBay. I assume these were furnished to the buyer of the respective car when new? Are these models still made by MR? And how do eBay sellers obtain several of these models to sell?

    Thanks for your input.

You are correct, each time a new car is delivered, the 1/43 model gets sent to the dealership usually few months later. In the case of my Pista coupe it came 1.5 years later but my Pista spider model came within 6 months. In some instance, if the original owner has sold the car prior to the 1/43 model being sent to the dealership, it ends up on the salesman or mgrs desk and sometimes ebay rather then given to the original owner or the next buyer. You can go to the MRcollection website and custom order your own 1/43 or even 1/18 model with you specs and it will be made for you and usually takes a few months.

Thanks. I knew MR produced the earlier models such as 458’s (the models that came with the serial number on the name plate on the standard MR base, but without the photos, etc.) but I was not sure about the later models. There is a seller on ebay that had about 15 of the newer models - F8, 812 GTS, in the box with the photos, models still in the unopened shrink wrap, for about $95, which I thought was a great price for the model and even better that each is a one off based on the actual car. I bought a few of them and they still have a few left for sale.

They also have a couple of the chrome 1/43 F8 Spiders that look to be the ones that came with the humidor/box with the key tray.
