Road trip in the 550. I’ve gone 277 miles without stopping, gauge reading 1/2 tank. Destination is 320 miles, am I gonna make it?

No, here’s an update, I worded that poorly. My total destination was 320 miles, I had drive 277 and the gauge was at half tank for a long time, I thought the fuel gauge might be INOP.

I stopped for fuel at my exit with 297 miles on trip odometer and bought fuel. I filled her all the way up, put in 16.26 gallons.

    297 / 16.26 = 18.265 MPG, can this be right?

It was mountainous highway with spirited driving, except for the 45 minutes of wipers on high speed due to major rainstorm. The car is aces in the wet, wipers amazing.

I have only driven one long trip so far and got 18.5 mpg, so it sounds like you are doing ok.

The fuel gauge is not very accurate, however I think Ferrari intended it to be so, The fuel light comes on early. The tank holds 34 gallons including reserve
so do the math to calculate range and carry a 2 gallon emergency gas can.

The 550 holds 114 liters of gasoline including the reserve. That is 30.1 US gallons. 575M only carries 110 liters, 29.1 gallons.

18+ mpg is easily possible for a highway drive.

I went through France at around 110+ kph. (70 mph.) on the cruise control for 750 kms. and refueled a few houres later. I got exactly 10 liter per 100 kms., which is 23,5 mph. Usually I never drive like that, but this day I just wanted to relax and listen to music while seeing the landscape cross by... So again, the 550 is the best and most economical car I can own.

With 100+ L fuel tanks 456 and 550 have diesel level range when driven slowly.

I just returned from a quick three day weekend, a little more than 700 miles in all, absolute fantastic machine, she loved the high speed mountain roads of West Virginia. Encountered heavy downpours where the wipers could barely keep up, completely stable, no hydroplaning. This was my first long drive in a 550, quite amazing really, comfortable seats and plenty of power when you need it. Need to do a bit more research but when at "higher speeds" the oil pressure was pegged at 140 (nearly 10 bar) water remained low (130) and everything else was in normal ranges.

Clean the contacts on the oil pressure sender. That's the usual cause of a pegged oil pressure gauge. When that's done, get the MSW oil pressure sender boot sold by Ricambi America: Oil Pressure Sender Cover

The oil pressure sender on the 550 gets dirty quickly down there.

Are yours gallons imperial or US?
My 18.5 mpg posted earlier are imperial, actual consumption was 14.5 L / 100 km, again on the motorway at 140 km/h on the speedometer.
    For what it's worth 10 L / 100 km = 28.3 imperial mpg.

UK gallon = 1.201 US gallons, so fuel consumption would be 20.1% better if quoting UK gallons consumption.

I think of gallon as 3,8 liter. So optimum gas milage for a 550 is 28 mpg. then?

Are you sure both fuel pumps are working and have full power?
Being over 20yrs old with the various gasoline blends in two decades has and will wreck the rubber insulators for fuel pumps. Such a high mpg makes me think you’re not fully pumping.
